Incheon Announces Special Transportation Measures for Chuseok Holiday

Incheon Metropolitan City will implement special transportation measures from September 23 to 27 to support residents traveling to and from home during the Chuseok holiday.

The city expects the average number of public transportation users in Incheon during the holiday to reach 504,076 per day, up 0.8 percent from normal levels.

The city expects the number of passengers using express and intercity buses and passenger ferries to increase due to demand for holiday travel and visits to ancestral graves, while subway ridership is expected to decline.

Accordingly, the city will increase the number of express and intercity bus services from the usual 416 trips per day with 301 buses to 475 trips with 359 buses.

The number of passenger ferry services will also be increased from the usual 67 trips per day to 75 to ensure smooth travel for residents traveling to and from the islands.

Incheon Steps Up Wildfire Prevention Ahead of Chuseok Holiday

Incheon Metropolitan City will launch an all-out response to wildfires ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The response measures come as the risk of fires have increased with an expected increase in outdoor activities, including visits to ancestral graves during the holiday and fall hiking.

First, the city will operate a “Wildfire Mobile Response Team” from September 15 to 23, ahead of the holiday.

The team will conduct on-site prevention activities in areas vulnerable to wildfires, while also providing guidance against illegal burning near forests and stepping up public awareness campaigns on wildfire prevention.

Property Tax Payment Due by September 30 Deadline

Incheon Metropolitan City is urging taxpayers to pay their regular September property taxes by the deadline.

Property taxes are imposed every July and September on those who own homes, land, buildings and other taxable property as of June 1, the tax assessment date.

The payment period for the regular September property tax is from September 16 to 30. Taxpayers can conveniently make payments even on holidays and at night without visiting a financial institution in person, using services such as Wetax, mobile apps including Smart Wetax, and easy payment services such as Kakao Pay.

Incheon to Add Six New Caregiver Training Institutions

Incheon Metropolitan City is designating additional caregiver training institutions to improve the quality of care services in preparation for a super-aging society and to make training more accessible to residents.

The city said it will newly designate six caregiver training institutions to strengthen the training system for care workers and meet regional demand for training.

There are currently 30 caregiver training institutions operating in Incheon.

Once the six new institutions are designated, the total will increase to 36, further improving residents’ access to caregiver training.

21st Incheon Youth Festival to Showcase Youth Talent and Dreams

Incheon Metropolitan City is holding a major festival where young people tired from their studies and entrance exams can take a break and freely showcase their talents and abilities. 

 The city said it will host the 21st Incheon Youth Festival on September 19 at Namdong Gymnasium, bringing together young people and local residents. 

 Marking its 21st year, this year’s festival carries the slogan, “WANNABE: Dream It, Be It!” 

The festival features a wide range of programs designed to give young people an opportunity to express their energy through cultural and hands-on activities and to take an active role in shaping their own futures.

Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Special Concert

The Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra will mark its 60th anniversary with a special concert, “REC:PLAY,” at 8 p.m. on October 8 at the Concert Hall of Arts Center Incheon.

The special concert is designed to go beyond a one-time concert by looking back on the history and musical journey of the Incheon Philharmonic, which was founded in 1966, and permanently preserve its history.

It will highlight the enduring value of classical music as a record that lives on, rather than simply a performance that takes place once.

Tickets for the special “REC:PLAY” concert are 10,000 won for all seats, and the performance is open to elementary school students and older.
