Incheon’s Transportation Support for Pregnant Women Receives Positive Response
Incheon City has reported strong public response to its “Transportation Support Program for Pregnant Women”which has been in effect since April of this year. Over the past eight months, more than 17,000 pregnant women have applied for the program, with an average of 1,300 applicants per month.
Under the program, each pregnant woman receives 500,000 KRW for transportation expenses. The city has allocated 5 billion KRW in the budget to cover the costs for 12,500 pregnant women between 2023 and 2024. An additional 6 billion KRW has been set aside for 15,000 women who become pregnant after 2024, ensuring that more expectant mothers’ benefit from the program.
Applications can be submitted through the government’s website, and the support is provided through Incheon’s local e-coin system, which is called ‘Incheon e-um points’
Incheon’s Gaehang Plaza Transformed into a Public Space for Citizens
Incheon Metropolitan City has successfully completed landscaping and environmental improvements as part of its “Gaehang Plaza Revitalization Project.” The goal of this project was to turn Gaehang Plaza into a more citizen-friendly space, improving accessibility and creating an open and welcoming environment.
The redesign emphasizes greater accessibility and a sense of openness, ensuring that the plaza becomes an easily accessible public space for all the people.
A city official commented that, "The city will continue to push forward with urban space innovations and efforts to regenerate the city’s old town areas, enhancing Incheon’s urban competitiveness and providing a better quality of life for the citizens."
Major K-Pop Artists Gather in Incheon for 2024 Melon Music Awards
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Tourism Organization have announced that the 2024 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2024) will be held on November 30th at the Incheon Inspire Arena.
The Melon Music Awards is the South Korea’s largest music ceremony and festival, where award winners are determined based on the data from Melon music platform, expert reviews, and user votes.
This year’s event theme is "New Stream of K-Pop," aiming to present a fresh vision for the future of Korean popular music. With a rich lineup of performances and events, the awards are expected to attract around 12,000 visitors, including 2,000 international fans from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
IFEZ to Establish Bio Open Lab in Songdo International Business District
A new open-innovation hub in the bio field will be established in the Songdo International Business District.
Yesterday (27th), IFEZ announced it had signed MOU for the SPARKPLEX project at Incheon City Hall.
The SPARKPLEX development will involve the construction of two 35-story buildings in Block F3-3 of the Songdo International Business District, with an estimated investment of 500 billion KRW.
Once completed, SPARKPLEX will position Songdo as a global bio innovation hub.
