Incheon City Submits UNESCO Global Geopark Application for Baengnyeong and Daecheong


On November 29, Incheon City officially submitted an application for UNESCO Global Geopark designation for the Baengnyeong and Daecheong regions.

This application was pursued to gain international recognition for the geological, ecological, and cultural value of Baengnyeongdo and Daecheongdo, while also aiming to revitalize the local economy and tourism.

There was consensus on the need to thoroughly prepare for UNESCO's document review and field evaluation scheduled for 2025, and to continuously promote community cooperation activities with the goal of achieving final designation in 2026.








Incheon City Records Highest Birth Rate Increase Nationwide


From January to September, Incheon Metropolitan City recorded 11,326 births, showing an 8.3% increase compared to the same period last year. This marks the highest increase rate nationwide.

According to Incheon City, during the same period, the number of births nationwide increased by 178,600, representing a 0.7% rise.

A city official stated, "We will continue to work hard to develop policies and strengthen support to make the city an optimal place for childbirth and childcare."







Incheon City Receives Re-certification in Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Smart City Certification'


Incheon City announced on the 1st that it has regained the Smart City Certification evaluated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Smart City Certification was introduced in 2021 to systematically assess the level of smart technology implementation in domestic cities and to identify exemplary cases.

A city official stated, "The Smart City re-certification is significant as it demonstrates that Incheon City has laid the foundation for urban innovation using advanced technology," adding, "We will continue to expand smart services that citizens can tangibly experience."
