Incheon-Dandong Ferry Resumes Passenger Transport After Five Years, Demand Surges
The Incheon-Dandong ferry route, resuming passenger transport after more than five years, is gaining popularity with tourism programs linked to North Korea.
According to the shipping industry, ferry operator Dandong Ferry has been receiving numerous inquiries from Korean and Chinese travel agencies and tourists eager to use the Incheon-Dandong route.
With the route reopening, the Incheon Port Authority (IPA) expects an increase in users at the Incheon Port International Passenger Terminal and has strengthened safety inspections for both terminal facilities and docking areas.
Incheon-Seoul Express Bus Service Increases Operations Under Semi-Public System
The introduction of a semi-public operation system for express buses between Incheon and Seoul has significantly improved service frequency.
Since the system's implementation in October last year, the number of operating buses has increased from 179 to 244, raising the operational rate from 53% to 70.3%, according to the Incheon city government.
As a result, the average bus interval during peak commuting hours has been reduced by eight minutes, and daily ridership has increased by approximately 10,000 passengers, marking a 21.7% rise.
This year, Incheon plans to allocate approximately KRW 27.2 billion to support 10 transportation companies under the semi-public system, focusing on improving driver conditions and passenger satisfaction.
Incheon to Launch Local Tax Payment Notification Service
The Incheon Metropolitan city has completed the development of the "i-Smart Payment Notification Service" to enhance taxpayer convenience and improve collection efficiency. The service will officially launch on March 20.
Previously limited to delinquent tax notifications, the new system expands real-time mobile alerts to include regular local tax payments, providing broader payment reminders.
This initiative is expected to help residents avoid missed deadlines and reduce additional late fees.
Incheon Office of Education Launches Advanced "Seom Bada (Island & Sea) Teacher Academy"
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education is expanding its marine education initiatives by launching the advanced program of the "Seom Bada Teacher Academy" and appointing 44 marine education activists.
The program was joined by 14 marine and ecological education organizations and 48 teachers from five schools, featuring 13 expert lectures and a six-day island field workshop.
The appointed education activists will lead various marine education programs in schools across the Incheon region.
