The Incheon Free Economic Zone has received the highest rating for seven consecutive years in the performance evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced that, in the 2024 national evaluation of free economic zones by the Ministry, the Incheon Free Economic Zone received the top S grade.

The authority explained that Incheon is the only one among the nine free economic zones nationwide to achieve the highest rating for seven years in a row.






Incheon Launches Support Project for At-Risk Mothers and Infants


Incheon City is launching a new support project in collaboration with ChildFund Korea to help vulnerable pregnant women and families with infants under 36 months.

The program aims to identify families in crisis early and provide them with real support.

A private partner was recently selected to support the initiative, which aims to circulate 1.3 million reusable containers by December.

43% of Waste Delivered to Capital Region Landfill Last Year Recycled into Renewable Energy


The Capital Region Landfill Management Corporation announced that 43% of the 1.072 million tons of waste brought to the landfill in Seo-gu, Incheon last year was recycled into renewable energy.

Sewage sludge was used as landfill cover material and solid fuel, and food wastewater was processed through facility procedures to produce a total of 17.4 million cubic meters of biogas.

Last year, a total of 188.7 GWh of electricity was produced and sold, which corresponds to the annual electricity usage of about 50,000 households or the energy consumption of three data centers.






Relocation of 1,274 Households Near Incheon Port to Songdo Begins in Full


A project to collectively relocate 1,274 households from the Hangun and Yeonan Apartments near Incheon Port to Songdo International City is now in full swing.

Incheon City announced that it had secured all six land parcels in Songdo through land exchange procedures for the relocation of Hangun and Yeonan Apartment residents.

This project involves exchanging 20 parcels owned by the city in the North Port hinterland with six parcels owned by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in Songdo, and then swapping the Songdo relocation land with the Hangun and Yeonan Apartments.






New Ferry Between Deokjeokdo and Incheon to Launch This Month


A morning departure passenger ferry on the Deokjeokdo–Incheon Port route will begin operations later this month, allowing island residents to enjoy same-day access to the mainland.

With the ferry in operation, residents will be able to travel to Incheon and return on the same day, which is expected to improve their living conditions.

The new ferry assigned to the Deokjeok–Incheon route is the 524-ton car ferry “Daebu Express Ferry No. 9,” which was built last month. It will depart daily from Deokjeokdo at 7:30 a.m., stopping at Soijakdo, Daeijakdo, Seungbongdo, and Jawoldo before reaching Incheon Port, making one round trip per day.





Incheon City Council Enacts Ordinance to Support Sakhalin Koreans Returning to Korea


A legal basis has been established for the city to support Sakhalin Koreans who have permanently returned and now reside in Incheon.

The ordinance, scheduled to take effect this month, allows the city to carry out various support programs for permanent returnees from Sakhalin who have their address registered in Incheon.

Key support services include Korean language and basic living adaptation education, emergency aid for healthy living, medical and healthcare services, opportunities for cultural and sports activities, and interpretation and translation services for medical and public institution visits or inquiries.






Michuhol-gu to Open Water Playgrounds at Subong and i-Green Parks on July 15


Incheon’s Michuhol-gu announced that it will operate children’s water playgrounds at Subong Park and i-Green Park from July 15 through August to mark the summer season.

These water playgrounds will be open free of charge to coincide with the start of the elementary school summer vacation period, and operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Michuhol-gu will assign four safety personnel to each playground, for a total of eight, and will replace the water daily while also cleaning and disinfecting the facilities to ensure children can play safely and comfortably.
