Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will host the 2025 Population Day event with citizens on July 5 at the Incheon Seonhak Gymnasium.

The event, under the slogan “A Happy Future Together with Family,” aims to help citizens better understand how low birthrates and population decline can affect society and to build support for Incheon’s population policies.

Through this event, the city plans to raise awareness that population issues are challenges for all citizens, not just certain groups, and to share various policies and low birthrate response measures currently being promoted.






Lotte Open Returns to Incheon for Fourth Year – Tournament Begins July 3


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the 15th Lotte Open, one of Korea’s leading women’s golf tournaments, will be held from July 3 to 6 at Bears Best Golf Club in Cheongna International City.

This year’s competition will feature 132 top players, including defending champion Lee Ga-yeong, Kim Hyo-joo, Choi Hye-jin, Hwang Yoo-min, and Lee Ye-won, competing for a total prize pool of 1.2 billion. 

Incheon citizens will receive a 20% discount on tickets, while people with disabilities, national merit recipients, and preschoolers can enter for free.






Incheon Opens 46 Splash Parks in Local Parks for Summer


To help citizens enjoy a cool summer in the city, Incheon Metropolitan City announced that 46 splash parks in public parks will open in phases and run through the end of August.

The facilities opened first in Namdong-gu and Gyeyang-gu on June 28 and will expand in early July to other districts like Yeonsu-gu and Bupyeong-gu, offering easy access to cool spaces for residents.

Each district office and park facility will inspect water quality at least once a week, perform regular disinfection, and station safety personnel at all locations to ensure a safe and pleasant experience.






2025 Incheon Esports Challenge: 36 Finalists Advance After Fierce Qualifiers


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the preliminary rounds of the 2025 Incheon Esports Challenge, hosted by the city and organized by Incheon Technopark, have successfully concluded.

A total of 1,193 players competed in the games League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Brawl Stars, Tekken 8, and Valorant. After intense qualifying matches, 36 finalists have been selected.

The finals will take place on the main stage of the 2025 Incheon Game Festival, scheduled for July 11 to 12.






Incheon Launches Support Project for At-Risk Mothers and Infants


Incheon City is launching a new support project in collaboration with ChildFund Korea to help vulnerable pregnant women and families with infants under 36 months.

The program aims to identify families in crisis early and provide them with real support.

After evaluating the pilot operation this year, the city plans to gradually expand the project using ChildFund Korea’s stable private sponsorship network.





Incheon Expands Reusable Container Project to Cut Single-Use Waste


Incheon City is expanding its reusable container program to lead the way in reducing single-use items.

A private partner was recently selected to support the initiative, which aims to circulate 1.3 million reusable containers by December.

The city plans to review results and satisfaction at the end of the project to inform future policies, including possible mandatory use by 2026.





43% of Waste Delivered to Capital Region Landfill Last Year Recycled into Renewable Energy


The Capital Region Landfill Management Corporation announced that 43% of the 1.072 million tons of waste brought to the landfill in Seo-gu, Incheon last year was recycled into renewable energy.

Sewage sludge was used as landfill cover material and solid fuel, and food wastewater was processed through facility procedures to produce a total of 17.4 million cubic meters of biogas.

Last year, a total of 188.7 GWh of electricity was produced and sold, which corresponds to the annual electricity usage of about 50,000 households or the energy consumption of three data centers.
