2025 Incheon-Burbank Youth Exchange Program Fully Resumes
Incheon Metropolitan City is promoting a youth international exchange program visiting Burbank, California in LA County, United States, scheduled from June 30 to July 12.
This exchange was planned with the purpose of enhancing friendly cooperation between Incheon City and its sister city Burbank, and revitalizing exchanges between future generations. A delegation of 11 people, consisting of 10 Incheon youth and 1 chaperone, is participating.
This exchange program is being promoted with the full cooperation of the Burbank Sister City Committee (BSCC), and serves as a valuable opportunity for participating students to develop international perspectives and communication capabilities.
Incheon City Completes Location and Communication Inspection of National Point Numbers
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it conducted on-site inspections of mobile communication connectivity and location accuracy at national point number plate installation sites throughout Incheon City jointly with the Incheon Fire Department for two weeks from June 23 to July 4, and confirmed that all systems were functioning normally without any issues.
'National point number plates' are address information facilities installed to enable people to accurately communicate their location during emergency situations in mountainous or coastal areas where buildings are not present. As of the end of 2024, a total of 92,249 plates are installed nationwide, with 1,323 installed in Incheon City.
Incheon City Launches Large-Scale Joint Crackdown to Eliminate Illegal Taxi Activities in Airport Area
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it has launched a large-scale joint guidance and crackdown operation in cooperation with relevant agencies starting this month to eliminate illegal activities by some taxis within the 'Incheon Airport Taxi Joint Business Zone' where taxis from Incheon, Seoul, and Gyeonggi regions are permitted to operate.
To resolve the issues of long-term parking and illegal touting that have been repeatedly occurring at the airport corporation terminal, Incheon City has been discussing solutions since April by forming a consultative body with Jung-gu Office and Incheon International Airport Corporation.
This crackdown was conducted by intensively monitoring and instructing against unfair fare demands by taxis, cherry-picking passengers, and illegal taxi operations using private vehicles, focusing on the Arena temporary taxi boarding area and nearby roadside areas.
Incheon City Accelerates Creation of Comfortable and Convenient Bus Stops
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it is continuously promoting the installation of new bus stops and the introduction of various convenience facilities to improve citizens' public transportation usage convenience and create a pleasant city image.
This year, Incheon City plans to invest a total budget of 3.02 billion won through city-district matching funds to install 125 bus stops (shelters), along with a total of 143 convenience facilities including 126 lighting fixtures, 38 heated seats, and 76 air blowers, as well as 30 bus boarding notification devices. As of the end of June, more than 60% of the overall target has been completed.
Through these efforts, the city is enhancing public transportation convenience for transportation-vulnerable populations and residents of the original downtown areas.
Incheon City Successfully Concludes Collaborative Exhibition in Celebration of Social Enterprise Day
Incheon City held the 'Value Sharing+ Social Economy Collaborative Exhibition' on the 4th at the city hall central hall to commemorate the 18th anniversary of 'Social Enterprise Day.'
According to the city, 31 local social economy enterprises participated in this event, which was organized by the Incheon Social Economy Support Center.
The enterprises exhibited and sold various products including handmade snacks and beverages, natural soaps, and household items. The event venue featured product experience opportunities and interactive programs for visitors, receiving an enthusiastic response from citizens.
Incheon City Strengthens Water Quality Testing for Spring Water Sites During Summer
Incheon City will expand testing for pathogenic microorganisms that cause waterborne infectious diseases during summer to protect the health of citizens using spring water sites and ensure water quality safety.
The research institute currently conducts regular monthly inspections of 30 spring water sites across 6 counties and districts in the Incheon region.
Through this initiative, the city plans to further enhance water quality safety so that citizens can use spring water sites with peace of mind.
Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education and Inha University College of Medicine Sign MOU for 'Youth Health Management'
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it signed a business agreement with Inha University College of Medicine on the 4th for youth health management and fostering talent in the healthcare and medical fields.
This agreement is part of the Office of Education's 'Incheon Youth Health and Medical Ownership' policy and Inha University College of Medicine's 'Regional Innovation-Centered University Support (RISE)' project, marking the first case nationwide where an education office and medical college collaborate on a joint curriculum.
The two institutions will cooperate on ▲expanding career exploration opportunities in healthcare and medicine for middle and high school students ▲operating community-based medical education programs.
