Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority Holds Naming Contest for Songdo Waterfront Section 6 Lake and Aam Lake
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority(IFEZ) announced that it will hold a naming contest for Songdo Waterfront Section 6 Lake and Aam Lake.
Any Incheon citizen can participate by submitting entries on the city’s website from the 8th to the 22nd of this month.
The winning names will be finalized as the official names of the two lakes after review by the Yeonsu-gu Naming Committee and the Incheon City Naming Committee.
Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education Signs Companion Island Agreement with Daeijakdo
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education signed a companion island agreement with Daeijakdo.
According to the office, the agreement was made to improve participant satisfaction and bring positive effects to the island community, following the achievements of the Sea School program held on Daeijakdo over the past three years.
Both sides agreed to cooperate on infrastructure and sustainable program operations for stable Sea School activities, and local residents and participants recently held a cleanup event at Mokjangbul Beach to celebrate the agreement.
Incheon Tourism Organization’s Sangsang Platform to Host Largest Local Festival in the Seoul Metropolitan Area
The Incheon Tourism Organization and Incheon City announced that they will hold large-scale local and vintage markets and events, including Jemulpo Wave Market (3rd), Oh! Slow Market, and Incheon Noodle Popup Store, at the entire Sangsang Platform space (1,500 pyeong) from the 20th to the 21st.
According to the organization, this will be the largest event since the platform opened in July 2024, with 150 teams participating: 68 teams at Jemulpo Wave Market, 2 teams at Incheon Noodle Popup Store, and 80 teams at Oh! Slow Market.
Various local food, goods, fashion, and handicraft brands will take part in the market.
25th Soraepo-gu Festival Opens on September 26
Namdong-gu, Incheon, announced that the 25th Soraepo-gu Festival will be held for three days from the 26th to the 28th at the Soraepo-gu Haeoreum Square area.
This year’s festival aims to become Korea’s leading marine ecology festival by adding modern elements to Soraepo-gu’s history and traditions.
Various performances for all generations will be held on the main stage during the festival period.
Ganghwa-gun Expands Project to Replace Old Concrete Manhole Covers
Ganghwa-gun announced that it will expand its project to replace old concrete manhole covers to ensure pedestrian safety.
In the first phase earlier this year, the gun spent 45 million to replace 120 old concrete covers in Ganghwa-eup and Gilsang-myeon with cast-iron covers.
In the second phase, the gun secured 50 million from Incheon City to replace 132 more covers.
The new covers are expected to last longer and reduce maintenance costs.
Ganghwa-gun Offers Free Tool Rental Service
Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, announced that it is operating a free tool rental service at the Village Housing Management Center on the 3rd floor of the Ganghwa-gun Happiness Center to improve residential convenience for residents.
The service allows residents to borrow essential tools such as electric drills, grinders, cutters, and tackers for up to three days free of charge with only an ID card.
The center has received positive responses, especially from residents of older or multi-unit housing areas where managing homes can be difficult.
Seo-gu, Incheon, Ranks First in Population Among Basic Local Governments
Seo-gu, Incheon, announced that it ranked first in population among all basic local governments in Korea.
As of August 31, 2025, Seo-gu’s registered population reached 646,703, surpassing Seoul’s Songpa-gu.
Seo-gu will hold a “Population No.1 Celebration Quiz Event” until September 21 to share this achievement with residents.
Dong-gu, Incheon, Completes Nightscape Project for Manseok-dong Walking Trail
Dong-gu, Incheon, announced that it completed the “Manseok-dong Walking Trail Nightscape Project” to revitalize the old downtown and create an attractive night environment.
Although many residents use the trail for walking during the day, the area was dark at night, raising safety concerns, especially for vulnerable groups.
The gu installed eco-friendly LED lights along the 270m section of the trail to create a variety of nightscapes and improve the walking environment.
