2025 Incheon International Media Conference will be held at Yonsei University Songdo Campus on September 18 


The 2025 Incheon International Media Conference will take place for two days starting September 18 at the international conference hall of Yonsei University Songdo Campus. 

Now in its second year, the event will bring together media experts from Korea and abroad, overseas Koreans, and delegations from sister and friendship cities to discuss Incheon’s global city strategy. 

An organizing committee official said the conference is built around Incheon’s industries, culture, and international networks, and added that each session is designed to lead to tangible policies and cooperation. 






Number of applicants for this year’s college entrance exam in Incheon rises to 30,143, up 7.1 percent


The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education announced that 30,143 students applied for this year’s College Scholastic Ability Test, a 7.1 percent increase from last year.

Of the total, 15,312 are male students, accounting for 50.8 percent, and 14,831 are female students, or 49.2 percent. By status, 21,090 applicants are current students, making up 70 percent, while 7,792 are graduates, or 25.8 percent, and 1,261, or 4.2 percent, are from qualification exams. This year’s exam will be held on November 13, and results will be released on December 5. 






Incheon announces vision to become a global startup city and sets up 2.7 trillion won fund 


The Incheon Metropolitan City Government has unveiled a blueprint to grow startups into unicorn companies and become a hub for entrepreneurship. The city held the Global Startup City Vision Declaration Ceremony yesterday at Incheon Startup Park. At the event, the city declared the vision of “Global Startup Platform, Innovation Gathering in Incheon” and presented three key strategies for startup growth. 

As part of the plan, Incheon will create a large-scale investment ecosystem, setting up a 2.7 trillion won fund by 2029. 






Incheon Election Commission strengthens crackdown on illegal activities ahead of Chuseok 


The Incheon Election Commission announced measures to prevent and crack down on illegal activities during the Chuseok holiday, such as politicians offering money or gifts to voters in the name of holiday greetings. 

The commission said it is particularly concerned about possible illegal acts by prospective candidates for the 9th nationwide local elections next June, including providing cash or goods. To raise awareness, the commission will issue guidance to political parties, lawmakers, local council members, local government heads, and prospective candidates. It will also mobilize investigation teams and election monitoring staff to respond quickly and strictly to major election crimes, including bribery and vote buying, that threaten fair elections. 






Incheon holds digital image contest for citizens to imagine the future city museum 


The Incheon Metropolitan City Government is holding a citizen-participation digital image contest to encourage residents to imagine and express the future city art museum. The contest, which runs until September 29, is part of a pre-opening project for the city museum scheduled to open in 2028. Under the theme “Drawing the Future i Museum,” participants are free to create images that reflect the museum’s functions—exhibitions, research, education, and experiences—as well as everyday moments in citizens’ lives. 





Michuhol-gu opens temporary sports facility with cultural and sports events 


Michuhol-gu in Incheon will hold a cultural and sports event on September 13 to mark the opening of a temporary sports facility in Yonghyeon-dong. 

The facility includes a soccer field, a baseball field, and four tennis courts, offering residents a variety of sports options. Since its partial opening on July 21, the facility has drawn attention from residents, and this event will officially introduce it to the public. The district also plans to continue expanding sports and cultural infrastructure so that residents can have more access to local facilities.
