Incheon to Launch Cash Transportation Support for Pregnant Women Using Electric Vehicles in October


The City of Incheon will begin providing cash transportation subsidies to pregnant women who use electric vehicles starting October 1st. This improvement is part of the city’s “i plus One Hundred Million Dream" childbirth policy initiative. Incheon officials stated that the change aims to enhance fairness and the actual effectiveness of the support program by including EV users in the cash subsidy system. Eligible applicants must be pregnant women who have been residents of Incheon for at least six months.  Applications must be submitted between the 12th week of pregnancy and within 90 days after childbirth.





Incheon to Waive Toll Fees for Wonjeoksan and Manwolsan Mountain Tunnels During Chuseok Holiday


The City of Incheon has announced that tolls will be waived for four days, from midnight on Saturday, October 4th, to midnight on Tuesday, October 7th, for two privately operated tunnels- Wonjeoksan Tunnel and Manwolsan Tunnel. This measure is in line with the national Chuseok holiday traffic relief initiative, under which toll fees are also waived on national expressways during the same period. Incheon aims to ease traffic congestion and enhance transportation convenience, especially around the heavily traveled Incheon Family Park area.






Incheon Begins Free COVID-19 Vaccinations for High-Risk Groups


Incheon Metropolitan Government has begun offering free COVID-19 vaccinations for high-risk populations to prevent severe illness and fatalities. Eligible groups include adults aged 65 and over, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and older, and residents or patients at high-risk facilities such as nursing hospitals, long-term care centers, psychiatric facilities, homeless shelters, and disability care centers. The vaccination program will roll out sequentially by age group, beginning with those aged 75 and older on October 15.






15 Honorees Selected for Incheon’s 47th Citizens’ Awards


In celebration of the 61st Citizens’ Day, the City of Incheon has selected 15 individuals to receive the 47th Citizens’ Awards in recognition of their contributions to local development and social cohesion. The awards span 13 categories across four sectors and are presented to those who have made significant contributions to building a healthier and more vibrant community. This year, 44 candidates were nominated. The final 15 awardees were selected following a comprehensive evaluation by a 15-member review committee composed of city council members, senior citizens, academics, and civic group leaders.






Ganghwa County to Host 4357th Gaecheonje and National Sports Festival Torch Ceremony


To mark National Foundation Day, Ganghwagun County in Incheon will host the “4357th 개천대 Ceremony” and the torch-lighting ceremony for the 106th National Sports Festival at 참성단 on 마니산 Mountain.

참성단 is a sacred site believed to have been built by 단군, the legendary founder of Korea, to offer heavenly rites. Every year on October 3, 강화 County holds the Gaecheonje Ceremony to pray for national prosperity and peace. After the main events, the torch will be relayed and eventually delivered to Busan, the host city of this year’s National Sports Festival.






Bupyeong District Wins Ministerial Award for Ecological Restoration and Urban Regeneration Projects 


Incheon’s Bupyeonggu District has won the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award at the 21st Korea Local Government Management Awards. The award recognizes the district’s “굴포천 Ecological Stream Restoration Project” and the “Sustainable Bupyeong 11th Street Urban Regeneration New Deal Project” in the category of regional resource development. The awards are co-hosted by the ‘Ministry of the Interior and Safety’ and ‘The Korea Times’ with support from five central government ministries. The event aims to showcase exemplary policies by local governments and promote them as successful models for regional development. The 굴포천 project, which began in 2017, is a large-scale environmental initiative to restore the ecological function of a previously covered and segmented stream. Final construction is underway, with completion expected in the second half of this year.
