Incheon Free Economic Zone announced that it will host the 2025 Korea Youth Bio Academy from November 29 to 30 for students aspiring to enter the nation’s bio sector.

The program begins with lectures by distinguished scholars from Korea and abroad at the Incheon Global Campus auditorium, followed by hands-on activities such as visits to bio companies in Songdo and university-level lab sessions. 

A bio-themed talk concert will also be held, allowing participation from members of the general public who are interested in the field.






Incheon Launches 110km “300-ri Waterway” Plan Linking Urban Streams and Coastline


Incheon City is moving forward with an ambitious plan to build a large-scale waterfront network that connects urban streams with coastal areas.

The project aims to link scattered waterfront assets into one integrated system, reshaping the city’s spatial structure.

According to the city, it is reviewing the creation of a 110-kilometer “Marine Waterfront Network” connecting major streams such as Gulpocheon, Seunggicheon, and Jangsucheon with coastal areas including Songdo Waterfront and Wolmido.

This initiative forms part of the broader “300-ri Waterway” master plan, designed to integrate local rivers, tidal channels, and coastal trails into a unified system.






Incheon to Operate “1,000-Won Culture Ticket” Program Year-Round Starting Next Year


Incheon City announced that its “1,000-Won Culture Ticket” program—well received during this year’s pilot phase—will be operated year-round starting next year.

The initiative allows citizens to enjoy a variety of cultural, sports, and tourism activities for just 1,000 won.

The city plans to continue offering affordable opportunities for cultural experiences and family-friendly performances in the upcoming year.






Incheon to Introduce Ordinance Discouraging Plastic Flower Use at Incheon Family Park


A new ordinance is being prepared to discourage the use of plastic artificial flowers at Incheon Family Park, a public cemetery operated by the city.

According to the Incheon Metropolitan Council, a proposed ordinance supporting the local floriculture industry passed the Industry and Economy Committee and will be reviewed and put to a vote during the upcoming plenary session on December 15.

The ordinance aims to prevent environmental pollution caused by plastic flowers and promote consumption of locally grown floricultural products by advising visitors to refrain from bringing plastic arrangements into the park.






Incheon Holds 2nd Youth-Friendly Community Day


Incheon City announced that it held the second Youth-Friendly Community Day on November 26.

The event, following the gathering held earlier this year, was organized to further promote a youth-friendly organizational culture among participants.

A city official stated that Incheon will continue supporting young workers so they can adapt to their workplaces and build sustainable careers.






Incheon Tops Seoul Metropolitan Area in Vocational High School Employment


The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education announced that it ranked first among metropolitan-area education offices in the 2025 Vocational High School Graduate Employment Statistics, released by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Educational Development Institute (KEDI).

Since 2020, the annual statistics have analyzed employment status based on public databases such as employment insurance and health insurance as of April 1.

Although Incheon ranked 16th among the nation’s 17 regional education offices last year, it rose to 8th nationwide this year (with an employment rate of 55.7%), achieving the highest result in the Seoul metropolitan area.






Endangered Species Among 51 Bird Species Observed at Yeongjong-do Reclamation Site


The Incheon Green Federation reported that 51 bird species—including 12 endangered species—were observed during six surveys conducted between September and October at the Yeongjong-do Phase 2 dredged soil disposal site.

Daily observations ranged from 6,000 to 11,000 birds.

Notably, 4,200 individuals of the endangered Far Eastern Curlew were observed on October 10.






Bupyeong-gu’s Crime Prevention Design Project Receives Positive Response


Bupyeong-gu’s ongoing efforts to build a women-friendly urban environment through crime-prevention design have been well received.

According to the Bupyeong-gu office, it has been implementing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) since 2013 to create safer, women-friendly neighborhoods. 

The project includes installing security devices such as convex mirrors and projection lighting, and improving narrow alleys and aging infrastructure to create safer public spaces.
