IFEZ Holds 2026 Work Briefing on Balanced Development and Innovation Growth


The 2026 major work briefing session, presided over by the Mayor of Incheon, was held on the 27th at the Sangsang Platform in Jung-gu.

Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) announced that, as the fourth session under the theme of ‘Balanced Development between Older Downtown Areas and Newer Urban Areas,’ it conducted a joint briefing with relevant city bureaus, departments, and affiliated organizations, with about 100 Incheon citizens in attendance.

IFEZ stated that its 2026 initiatives will focus on leading innovative growth while ensuring balanced regional development. The authority plans to strengthen the execution of individual projects through close cooperation with relevant city departments.






12 Billion won in National Funding Allocated for Marine Debris Cleanup off the Coast of Incheon Next Year


Incheon City announced that 12 billion won in national funding has been included in next year’s central government budget for marine debris cleanup in the waters off Incheon.

The city has continuously requested expanded funding support from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, securing 9.8 billion won last year and 11.2 billion won this year.

The cleanup budget will cover shoreline and floating debris removal, waste response for vulnerable coastal areas, purchase of debris collected during fishing operations, operation of waste transport vessels for island areas, and support for citizen-participation programs.






Incheon Receives Top “Excellent” Rating in National Consumer Policy Assessment


Incheon Metropolitan City earned the highest rating, “Excellent,” in the 2024 Evaluation of Comprehensive Consumer Policy Implementation Plans, ranking as the top-performing local government in the nation.

The 15th Consumer Policy Committee evaluated the performance of 155 consumer policy initiatives carried out last year by 17 central government agencies and 17 metropolitan local governments.

Among the five rating tiers, only 26 initiatives nationwide received the top grade of “Excellent.” Incheon achieved an exceptional result, with all four initiatives submitted by the city earning the highest rating, marking the strongest performance among all metropolitan governments.





Incheon to Host the 2025 Pharmaceutical & Bio Investment Expo on December 2 at Songdo Convensia


Hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City and co-organized by the Incheon Tourism Organization, KOTRA, and the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association, the “2025 Pharmaceutical & Bio Investment Expo” will be held on December 2 at the Premier Ballroom of Songdo Convensia.

The expo aims to strengthen networking and collaboration across the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Leading domestic and international experts from the pharma–bio sector will participate as speakers, delivering in-depth insights throughout the conference.






Endangered Species Among 51 Bird Species Observed at Yeongjong-do Reclamation Site


The Incheon Green Federation reported that 51 bird species—including 12 endangered species—were observed during six surveys conducted between September and October at the Yeongjong-do Phase 2 dredged soil disposal site.

Daily observations ranged from 6,000 to 11,000 birds.

Notably, 4,200 individuals of the endangered Far Eastern Curlew were observed on October 10.






Bupyeong-gu’s Crime Prevention Design Project Receives Positive Response


Bupyeong-gu’s ongoing efforts to build a women-friendly urban environment through crime-prevention design have been well received.

According to the Bupyeong-gu office, it has been implementing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) since 2013 to create safer, women-friendly neighborhoods. 

The project includes installing security devices such as convex mirrors and projection lighting, and improving narrow alleys and aging infrastructure to create safer public spaces.
