Incheon City to Create Barrier-Free Integrated Playgrounds to "Guarantee All Children's Right to Play"
Incheon City is working to guarantee every child's right to play through the creation of barrier-free playgrounds where all children, regardless of disability, can enjoy themselves.
While there are no clear standards or guidelines established at the government level for integrated playgrounds yet, the evaluation criteria include installing ramps instead of stairs to improve accessibility for those with mobility challenges, and providing supportive structures that allow transfers from wheelchairs.
For people with and without disabilities to live together harmoniously, it's essential to foster mutual understanding from an early age by playing and spending time together. Integrated playgrounds are expected to become the most effective spaces for achieving this goal.
