Incheon Port Throughput Slips Slightly Amid Middle East Uncertainty
Incheon Port throughput, which somewhat stagnated last year, has continued to show a slight decline in the early months of 2026 due to disruptions linked to the ongoing situation in the Middle East. According to the Incheon Port Authority (IPA), total cargo volume handled at Incheon Port reached 46.77 million revenue tons (RT) between January and April, down 0.8 percent from 47.13 million RT during the same period last year. The decline was largely attributed to weaker performance in the bulk cargo sector. Bulk cargo volume totaled 29.58 million RT during the first four months of the year, compared with 29.82 million RT a year earlier, also marking a 0.8 percent decrease. An IPA official said both container and bulk cargo volumes showed a downward trend in March and April, adding that while the situation in the Middle East remains a key variable, cargo traffic is expected to recover and increase in the coming months.

Seo-gu Completes Reinforcement Work On Retaining Wall Near Construction Site
Reinforcement work has been completed on a retaining wall adjacent to a new construction site in Gajwa-dong, Seo-gu, with the district addressing safety concerns ahead of the summer rainy season. The district said proactive mediation efforts and prompt repair work by the contractor helped prevent potential safety incidents. Safety concerns were first raised after heavy rainfall on July 19, 2025, caused water to seep from the lower section of the retaining wall located within a neighboring apartment complex. Officials noted that completing the reinforcement work before the start of the monsoon season is significant, as it reduces the risk of a recurrence of last year’s water leakage problems.
