‘Island Wave’Program to Support Young Entrepreneurs on Incheon Islands


Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Tourism Organization are launching the 2026 Incheon Rural and Fishing Village Youth Capacity-Building Program, "Island Wave," to support entrepreneurship and local settlement among young people in rural and coastal communities. 


The first workshop for the program will be held on June 9 at the Incheon Sangsang Platform. 


The initiative is designed to help young people establish stable lives in rural and fishing communities facing population decline and aging demographics. 

Participants from Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun will explore startup ideas utilizing local resources and develop foundations for turning those ideas into viable businesses.






Yeonsu-gu Holds Business Briefing on Integrated Care Services


Yeonsu-gu has organized a business briefing session for integrated medical and long-term care on June 5 to strengthen service coordination and address gaps in community care. 


The session was held to support the successful implementation of the "Yeonsu Whole-Neighborhood Integrated Care" initiative and it was attended by representatives from Yeonsu, Cheonghak, and Songdo senior welfare centers, as well as organizations providing customized senior care services. 


During the event, participants reviewed operational plans and received guidance on public-private information-sharing systems. 


The district plans to strengthen cooperation among its 15 neighborhood administrative welfare centers and local welfare institutions to create an environment where older residents can enjoy healthy aging while remaining in their own communities.





Ganghwa-gun to Restore Pediatric Services After Three-Year Gap


Residents of Ganghwa-gun who previously had to travel outside the region for pediatric emergency and inpatient care will once again be able to access such services locally beginning in August. 


According to Ganghwa-gun and BS General Hospital, the hospital has recently recruited a pediatric specialist and plans to resume pediatric and adolescent medical services in early August. 


The newly appointed specialist will be able to provide inpatient care as well as emergency treatment for newborns, helping address the region's pediatric healthcare shortage.







Incheon Library to Host Public Lecture on Safe Medication Use


Incheon Library has announced it will host a public lecture on June 25 at 2 p.m. in its basement auditorium. 


The lecture will feature Professor Baek Seung-man of the College of Pharmacy at Gyeongsang National University who will speak on “How to Take Medicine: Staying Healthy in the Era of Medication Overuse.” 


The lecture aims to help citizens better understand pharmaceuticals and evaluate their health-related habits. 


Topics will include the characteristics of modern society's growing dependence on medication, proper medication practices, ways to prevent misuse and overuse of drugs, and how to make informed use of health information.





Incheon Youth Symphony Orchestra to Hold Inaugural Concert


The Incheon Arts Center has announced that the Incheon Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold its inaugural concert and first regular performance, "The New Wave," on July 25 at 5 p.m. in the center's main concert hall. 


The orchestra, established in March under the leadership of founding music director and conductor Jung Han-gyeol, was created to systematically nurture young musical talent and strengthen the region's future cultural foundation. 


Admission to the concert is free. Advance reservations for paid members of the Incheon Arts Center will open at 2 p.m. on June 10, followed by general reservations beginning at 2 p.m. on June 12.




Ongjin-gun Finalizes 2nd Development Plan for Five West Sea Islands

Incheon’s Ongjin-gun has finalized the Second Comprehensive Development Plan for the Five West Sea Islands (2026–2035), a 10-year blueprint covering Baengnyeongdo, Daecheongdo, Socheongdo, Yeonpyeongdo, and Soyeonpyeongdo. 


The plan includes 76 projects with a total budget of 677.2 billion won. 


Of the total, 511.3 billion won will be funded by the central government and will serve as the primary source of financing for project implementation. 


The county plans to carry out the projects in phases according to the investment schedule while ensuring smooth implementation based on the characteristics and scale of each project.
