Incheon Releases 250,000 Juvenile Rockfish into Soyado Waters


The Incheon Fisheries Resources Research Institute has released 250,000 juvenile black rockfish into the waters off Ongjin-gun’s Soyado.

The juvenile fish were hatched at the institute in April, raised for about three months, and underwent disease inspections before being released. 

Black rockfish is a coastal resident fish that is popularly consumed raw. 

It can typically be harvested within one to two years after release. The program is expected to help increase local fishermen's income.





Geomdan New City Selected for Parenting-Friendly Public Housing Project


The Geomdan New City AA7 Block has been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's parenting-friendly specialized housing project under its first-half 2026 housing competition. 

According to Incheon Metropolitan City, the selected project is part of the ministry's "locally proposed customized housing" initiative, under which local governments propose customized housing plans that reflect local housing demand and policy priorities. 

Incheon plans to designate 80 of the 1,006 integrated public rental housing units in AA7 Block as parenting-friendly specialized housing for newly married couples without children and those with children aged six and under. 




Incheon to Hold 2026 Green Flea Market for Resource Circulation


Incheon Metropolitan City has announced that the 2026 Green Flea Market for Resource Circulation will be held on July 4 at Aettul Square in front of Incheon City Hall to promote carbon neutrality and a culture of sharing. 

Hosted by the city and organized by the Incheon YWCA, the event carries the slogan, "Reusing with Purpose, Sharing for the Future." 

Citizens will be able to sell or exchange unused household items, practice resource recycling, and donate part of their proceeds to scholarship funds, creating a community-centered event that combines environmental action with charitable giving. 

In particular, this year's inaugural event will also feature a "Gangnaengi Sharing Event," where visitors who bring reusable containers will receive puffed corn snacks. 

Vendors will receive one serving each, while general visitors can receive the snacks by participating in an environmental pledge event.




Incheon Selected for National High-Precision Digital Map Project for 4th Consecutive Year


Incheon Metropolitan City has been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2027 National High-Precision Digital Map Challenge Project, securing 850 million won in central government funding. 

With the latest selection, Incheon has become the first local government in Korea to be chosen for the project for four consecutive years since its initial selection in 2024, reinforcing its position as a leader in spatial information technology. 

The city will invest a total of 1.7 billion won, including the national funding, to upgrade high-precision digital maps covering 265 square kilometers of urban areas from January through December 2027.





Incheon to Showcase Future Housing Technologies at RoboCup 2026


Incheon Metropolitan City will present a vision for future residential redevelopment featuring AI, robotics, and digital twin technologies in connection with RoboCup 2026 Incheon, which will be held at Songdo Convensia from July 2 to 5. 

The exhibition is jointly organized by the city's Housing Redevelopment Division, LG CNS, and XIGEIST to introduce Incheon's future-oriented urban redevelopment policies to domestic and international visitors. 

A modular housing exhibition will be set up on the first floor of Songdo Convensia, where visitors can experience demonstrations of patrol and delivery robots, along with a digital twin-based residential management system.





Incheon Holds Joint Forest Cleanup Campaign with Ganghwa-gun and Gyeyang-gu


Incheon Metropolitan City has conducted a joint forest cleanup campaign with Ganghwa-gun and Gyeyang-gu to prevent illegal dumping and other unlawful activities in forested areas while promoting public awareness of forest conservation. 

About 50 participants, including city and local government officials, as well as members of the forest disaster response team, took part in the campaign on June 25 and 30. 

Participants collected litter, carried out forest cleanup activities, and distributed promotional materials.
