Incheon Completes Improvement Project in Ganghwa’s Flood-Prone Area
Ganghwa-gun’s Gyosancheon Stream has been transformed into a more flood-resilient waterway capable of better withstanding heavy rainfall caused by climate change.
Incheon Metropolitan City said the Gyosancheon Flood-Prone Area Improvement Project, stretching from Gyosan-ri in Yangsa-myeon to the coastline of Bukseong-ri in Ganghwa-gun, was recently completed.
The project was carried out to prevent flooding caused by torrential rain and typhoons and to ensure the stream has sufficient capacity to manage floodwaters.
A total of 31.5 billion won was invested in the project, which began in December 2019 and involved extensive improvements over approximately seven years.
Incheon to Hold 2nd Jemulpo Deodamji Market on Aug. 12
Incheon Metropolitan City will hold the second Jemulpo Deodamji Market of 2026 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 12 along the pedestrian path in front of the city's Waterworks Headquarters.
The event is designed to support sales channels for social economy enterprises and give citizens opportunities to make value-based purchases.
A variety of hands-on activities will also be offered alongside the sale of products from participating businesses.
A total of 20 businesses, including 17 social economy enterprises and three Culture Nuri participating organizations, will take part in the second market, showcasing a range of products and offering interactive programs for visitors.
Incheon Culture & Arts Center to Stage Korea's Beloved Original Musical ‘Laundry’
The beloved Korean original musical Laundry, which has been enjoyed by audiences for many years, will be staged at the Grand Theater of the Incheon Culture & Arts Center from Aug. 28 to 30.
The musical began in 2003 as a graduation production at the School of Drama at Korea National University of Arts and made its official premiere in 2005 at the National Theater's Byeoreorum Theater.
It has since established itself as a long-running fixture in Daehangno, Seoul's theater district.

’Incheon Film Week 2026’ to Take Place at CGV Incheon Yeonsu in October
Incheon's annual film festival, Incheon Film Week 2026, has finalized its schedule, with this year's event set to take place for three days from Oct. 23.
This year’s theme is “The Future.” Hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City and organized by the Incheon Film Commission, Incheon Film Week is held annually to highlight Incheon's identity as a film city, and the city where Korean cinema first took root and played a central role in the development of the Korean film industry.
It also aims to reaffirm the city's value as an open community where diverse lives and stories coexist.
This year's festival will run from Friday, Oct. 23, to Sunday, Oct. 25, at CGV Incheon Yeonsu in Yeonsu-gu.
All films centered on this year’s theme of “The Future” selected for Incheon Film Week will be free for audiences.
Seohae-gu Selected for Lifelong Education Support Program for Slow Learners
Incheon’s Seohae-gu has been selected for the 2026 Lifelong Education Program Support Project for People with Borderline Intellectual Functioning.
The project, operated by the Incheon Institute For Lifelong Education, will provide slow learners with the opportunity to grow in daily life.
The program consists of four courses: confidence building in speaking; smart living in the world of AI; upgrading your style; and financial education for independent living.
Residents interested in participating can check the notices on the Seohae-gu Lifelong Learning Center website for application schedules and procedures for each program.
Songdo Health Center Recruits Participants for Healthy Lifestyle Programs
The Songdo Health Life Support Center in Yeonsu-gu will accept applications for the third recruit of its Healthy Lifestyle Programs for two days starting Aug. 11.
The programs include senior park golf, centenarian fitness, and strength circuit training for beginners and intermediates.
Professional instructors will provide tailored guidance based on participants' ages and fitness levels.
Residents interested in participating can apply through the Yeonsu Culture Portal or visit the center in person.
After applications close, participants will be selected by lottery and notified.
