Incheon City Expands 'I() Global Delivery Support Project' from May 1
Incheon Metropolitan City will expand the 'i() Global Delivery Support Project', which has been available to foreign residents in Incheon, to include small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) starting today (May 1).
The project aims to strengthen the global logistics competitiveness of SMEs in response to the evolving international trade environment, including new U.S. tariff policies, and to support overseas direct-to-consumer (D2C) exports.
With this expansion, all SMEs based in Incheon will be eligible for preferential discounts ranging from 12% to 39% and free pickup services (valued at 3,000 to 5,000 won) for even a single shipment regardless of prior usage. Previously, such benefits were only available to businesses that used international express mail (EMS) services averaging more than 20 million won per month.
Incheon City to Return Unclaimed Local Tax Refunds Throughout May
Incheon Metropolitan City is conducting a ‘Local Tax Refunds Settlement Period’ throughout May to protect taxpayers’ rights and enhance the credibility of its tax administration.
As of April 20, 2025, the city reported 62,657 cases of unclaimed local tax refunds, totaling 2.362 billion won.
The unclaimed refunds primarily stem from local income tax returns filed after national tax settlements, or from early payments of automobile taxes followed by vehicle ownership transfers or scrapping. Many refunds remain unclaimed due to unclear residential or contact information, or because taxpayers are reluctant to apply for small refund amounts.
To encourage refund claims during this period, Incheon City will promote the initiative through banners on its official website, as well as by sending notification letters, text messages, and making phone calls.
Incheon City Opens Applications for ‘Incheon Master Craftsman 2025’ Title
Incheon Metropolitan City will select the recipients of the ‘Incheon Master Craftsman 2025’ who possesses the highest level of industrial skills, contributes to social development, and elevate the city’s reputation.
The 'Incheon Master Craftsman' title recognizes a technician who has been active in the industrial field for a long time and has the highest level of skill.
From 2017 to 2024, Incheon has selected master craftsmen every year in various technical fields such as automobile maintenance, and has produced a total of 16 master craftsmen to date.
This year, the city plans to select up to 10 new masters, one from each of 85 occupations in 37 fields, in accordance with the relevant ordinance.
Incheon Metropolitan City Museum to Host Healing Program for Young Adults
In May, the Incheon Metropolitan City Museum will host the ‘2030 Museum Class,’ a cultural and artistic program designed for young adults in their 20s and 30s.
The 2030 Museum Class is one of the museum’s popular programs aimed at bringing younger generations closer to culture and the arts.
This year's program will feature seasonal flowers to uplift participants' moods and evoke the vitality of nature. The sessions will focus on horticultural therapy, using flower-based activities to promote emotional well-being and enhance self-esteem.
Incheon City to Offer Convenient Personal Local Income Tax Filing Service
From today (May 1) through June 2, Incheon City will operate integrated filing centers across 10 counties and districts to assist taxpayers with filing their personal local income taxes.
The service is designed for taxpayers using the ‘pre-filled tax return’ system, supporting both local and comprehensive income tax filings. Taxpayers who face difficulty filing can visit their nearest office for assistance.
Taxpayers can choose to file electronically, by mail, or in person. Electronic filing is made easy through WeTax.
Jangbongdo~Modo Yeondo Bridge in Ongjin-gun Selected for Preliminary Feasibility Study
The Jangbongdo~Modo Yeondo Bridge in Ongjin-gun, Incheon, has been selected for a preliminary feasibility study.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2031, with a total cost of 108.5 billion won. The bridge will span 1.8 kilometers and feature two lanes.
Bukdo-myeon, where Jangbongdo is located, consists of four islands, including Sindo, Sido, and Modo. With the planned construction of the Sindo Bridge (tentative name) connecting Yeongjongdo and Sindo, scheduled for January 2026, the Jangbongdo~Modo Yeondo Bridge will connect all four islands by bridge. Once completed, it will be possible to drive from Jangbongdo to the mainland.
Incheon Subway Line 1 Extension to Songdo Selected for Preliminary Feasibility Study
The Incheon Subway Line 1 extension project into Songdo International City, which had been stalled due to economic feasibility concerns, will undergo government review once again.
Incheon City announced that the Songdo District 8 extension project was approved as a candidate for review during the 4th Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee meeting held by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 30th.
The city plans to invest 420 billion won to extend the terminus of Incheon Subway Line 1 by 1.74 kilometers, from the current Songdo Moonlight Festival Park Station to Misong Middle School in Songdo District 8. Two new stops will be added, with the goal of completing the extension by 2034.
The total project cost will be split, with 60 percent funded by the government and 40 percent covered by the city.
Incheon City to Install Seat Availability Displays on All Intercity Buses by June
To enhance transportation convenience for commuters traveling to and from Seoul, Incheon City will install seat availability displays on all intercity buses by June.
The installation will cover a total of 377 buses, including 114 Metropolitan Express (M-bus) buses (11 routes) and 253 Direct Intercity buses (20 routes).
The city expects the system to improve user convenience by displaying the number of available seats, calculated based on transportation card data, on the exterior of each bus.
