Incheon Airport to Gradually Raise Employee Parking Fees to Free Up Space

Incheon International Airport Corporation is moving to raise parking fees for on-site employees after reducing the number of employee parking permits.

The move comes as part of the corporation’s efforts to ease chronic parking shortages at the airport.

According to the corporation, beginning next month it plans to increase the cost of paid monthly parking permits for employees using parking facilities at Terminals 1 and 2.

The corporation is considering setting monthly rates at 110,000 won for airline employees and 70,000 won for other airport workers in long-term parking lots, while monthly fees for short-term parking lots would range from 250,000 won to 300,000 won.

For long-term parking, the current 50 percent discount on the 35,000-won monthly permit will be eliminated, with differentiated rates for airline employees and other airport workers based on average daily parking occupancy.

Clean Hydrogen Hub Project at Incheon's E1 Container Terminal Site Scrapped

Plans to build a clean hydrogen supply hub at the site of the E1 Container Terminal (E1CT) in Incheon's South Port, which is scheduled to cease port operations by the end of next year, have been scrapped.

According to Rep. Heo Jong-sik of the Democratic Party of Korea, the decision was made during a meeting held the previous day involving the lawmaker, E1 officials, and members of the Jemulpo-gu Council.

Rep. Heo said E1 decided to withdraw the project after taking into account opposition from nearby residents and the Incheon Metropolitan Government's refusal to approve the plan.

The E1 Container Terminal is scheduled to end port operations next year ahead of the opening of Phase 1-2 of Incheon New Port's container terminal at the end of 2028.
