Incheon City Museum to Hold Exhibition on Intellectuals Who Shaped Joseon
The Incheon Metropolitan City Museum will hold a special exhibition titled “Intellectuals of Incheon Who Enlightened Joseon.”
The exhibition will run from Aug. 20 through Sept. 27, showcasing Incheon's intellectual heritage during the Joseon Dynasty before the opening of its port.
The exhibition explores the lives and achievements of scholars, writers and thinkers who were based in Incheon during the Joseon period and made contributions across the country.
It features artifacts connected to intellectuals with ties to areas that are now part of Incheon Metropolitan City, including Ganghwa Island and Geomdan.
Incheon Startup Support Program Yields Results as Companies Expand Overseas
Incheon's support program for startups, carried out in cooperation with global tech giants, is beginning to produce tangible results, with participating companies expanding into overseas markets.
According to Incheon Metropolitan City, the “I-Startup Unicorn Dream” program connects local startups with the technological and business expertise of top five global tech companies such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, IBM, Siemens and Ansys.
The program provides customized technical support and expert consulting, followed by phased assistance for global commercialization.
The support has recently led to overseas expansion, business contracts and enhanced technological competitiveness among participating startups.
Incheon Airport Ranks No. 1 Worldwide for Int’l Passenger Traffic for First Half
Incheon International Airport ranked first in the world in international passenger traffic during the first half of this year, marking the first time it has achieved the top spot since opening in 2001.
Incheon International Airport Corporation said the airport handled 38.39 million international passengers in preliminary estimates from January through June, up 6.3 percent from the same period last year.
According to provisional statistics from Airports Council International, this was the highest figure among 1,234 airports worldwide.
London’s Heathrow ranked second with 37.79 million passengers, followed by Singapore’s Changi with 34.53 million.
Low-value Express Cargo Exports Through Incheon Port Surge Nearly 50%
Exports of low-value express cargo through Incheon Port have increased by nearly 50 percent over the past year.
According to the Incheon Main Customs Office, the value of express shipments processed through simplified export customs procedures reached 200 million U.S. dollars in the first half of this year, up 46.9 percent from the same period last year.
The number of shipments also rose 24.5 percent to 628,000. Incheon Customs' share of the nation's express shipments processed through simplified export procedures has continued to increase each year.
Incheon to Inspect 103 Surveying Firms to Prevent Poor-Quality Surveys
Incheon Metropolitan City will conduct a comprehensive inspection of 103 registered land surveying companies in the city from Aug. 10 through Oct. 30 to establish sound business practices and prevent poor-quality surveying.
The companies subject to inspection include 55 general surveying firms, 35 public surveying firms, 11 cadastral surveying firms and two performance test agencies.
The city will require minor violations to be corrected immediately on site.
For serious violations, such as failing to meet registration requirements or failing to report changes as required, the city plans to impose strict administrative measures, including cancellation of registration or suspension of business, in accordance with relevant laws.
