Incheon Urges Pneumococcal Vaccination for Seniors Ahead of Parents’ Day
Incheon Metropolitan City is encouraging citizens to take care of their elderly parents’ health by ensuring they receive pneumococcal vaccinations ahead of Parents’ Day on May 8.
Pneumococcus is a leading cause of invasive infections such as acute otitis media, pneumonia, bacteremia, and meningitis. It can be particularly dangerous for those aged 65 and older.
Those born on or before December 31, 1960 can get a one-time free vaccination at designated medical institutions and public health centers.
Incheon Launches Seafood Voucher Refund Event for Family Month
To celebrate Family Month this May and boost seafood consumption while easing consumer prices, Incheon Metropolitan City is launching a special refund event using Onnuri gift vouchers.
From May 9 to 13, the event will take place at major traditional markets across the city—including Ganghwa Pungmul Market in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon General Fish Market in Jung-gu, Soraepogu Traditional Fish Market in Namdong-gu, and Guwol Market and Moraenae Traditional Market in Namdong-gu, as well as Mansu and Ganseok Jayu Markets in Namdong-gu.
Customers who purchase domestic seafood at these markets can receive up to 30 percent of the their total purchase in Onnuri gift vouchers, with a maximum of 20,000 won per person.
Receipts should be presented at the designated refund booth at the market.
Traditional Korean Performance Series ‘Eolssu’ Returns to Incheon
The City of Incheon is bringing traditional performances directly to neighborhoods with the 17th annual “Eolssu” series, taking place from May through September.
“Eolssu” will be held eight times across various locations throughout the city, inviting citizens to experience Korea’s rich cultural heritage right in their own communities.
This year’s lineup includes high-quality performances in genres such as pansori, fusion gugak, and samulnori—celebrating the vibrancy of Korean tradition.
All performances are free and open to the public.
The Incheon Arts Center will host Special Preview Performance at Its Reopened Small Theater
The Incheon Arts Center will celebrate the reopening of its renovated Small Theater with a special preview performance on Friday, May 16.
The event, titled “Together, Spring”, will showcase the Incheon City Disabled Artists’ Ensemble. It offers a sneak peek of the refreshed venue before regular programming resumes and will help staff check the venue’s sound and technical systems.
Admission is free, but advance reservations are required through the Incheon Arts Center’s official website.
Incheon Education Office Outlines Master Plan for New Headquarters
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education has established a comprehensive master plan for the construction of its new headquarters.
After receiving approval from the Ministry of Education’s central investment review last year, the office finalized the blueprint this April to proceed with the project.
The new facility will be located on the site of the current headquarters and will feature two underground and nine above ground floors, covering a total floor area of approximately 26,000 square meters.
The project is estimated to cost 112.7 billion KRW.
Incheon Central Library Launches Career and Culture Program for Youth
The Incheon Metropolitan City Central Library’s youth cultural space "Danuri" has begun offering a school-linked career and job experience program to help students better understand a rapidly changing world.
The program, offered to students from eight selected middle and high schools, includes hands-on experiences at various Danuri facilities such as reading lounges, board game rooms, and studios.
The program runs for eight sessions, starting with Manseok Middle School on May 1.
