Incheon Expands 'Yellow Traffic Signals' in School Zones
The city of Incheon announced plans to invest 2.6 billion won by December this year to enhance pedestrian safety in 62 school zones. The project includes the installation of three warning lights, 59 in-ground pedestrian signals, and the replacement of 83 red countdown timers.
This initiative is part of Incheon’s “Citizen-Centered Sustainable Traffic Policy.” More than just adding signals, the city is focusing on site-specific risk analysis and proactive safety measures to build a more effective traffic safety environment.
Targeted areas include school zones with high pedestrian traffic and accident risks, such as Mansu-buk Elementary, Gyeyang Elementary, Bugok Elementary, and Cheonghak Elementary. Priority will be given to spots where visibility is poor, with a focus on installing highly visible signaling devices.

Namchon Wholesale Market to Close for Summer Break on July 27 and 28
Incheon’s Namchon Agricultural Wholesale Market will take a summer break to boost morale and give workers a chance to recharge. The market will be closed on July 28 for a temporary shutdown.
The decision follows a voluntary closure request from the four wholesale corporations operating within the market. Workers in the fruit and vegetable sections, including intermediate wholesalers, will take part in the break.
With the regular closure already scheduled for July 27, both the fruit and vegetable halls will suspend auction operations for two consecutive days.

Starting today, Incheon residents can apply for the first round of People’s Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons. Applications will be accepted until September 12.
This nationwide program offers 150,000 won for the general public, 300,000 won for near-poverty and single-parent households, and 400,000 won for recipients of basic livelihood benefits.
To avoid system overload, applications will be staggered from July 21 to 25 based on the last digit of birth year. From July 26, anyone can apply regardless of birth year.
Applications are available 24/7 via their card company’s website or app, or in person at affiliated banks.
