합창단 연혁

1981년 창단된 인천시립합창단은 1995년 윤학원 전 예술감독과 함께 재 창단 후 최고의 음악적인 기량과 창의적이고 독창적인 프로그램으로 전 세계 음악인들에게 최정상의 합창단으로 인정받고 있다.

인천광역시를 대표하고 대한민국을 노래하는 문화사절단으로서 1997년 벨기에 세계합창연합회(IFCM) 합창심포지엄을 시작으로 다수의 권위있는 세계 합창제와 미국 카네기홀 연주 등을 비롯한 수차례의 해외 초청연주에서 정상의 기량을 선보였다. 2009년 미국 합창지휘자연합회(ACDA)에 세계 4대 합창단으 로 정식 초청되어 5,000여명의 미국합창지휘자들로부터 기립박수를 받았으며 , 2010년 프랑스 노르망디 세인트로에서 열린 세계합창박람회와 2014년 서울 국립극장에서 열린 제10회 세계합창연합회(IFCM) 합창심포지엄에서 한국대표 로 초청되어 창의적이고 실험적인 합창무대로 큰 찬사를 받았다.

또한, KBS 예능프로그램 남자의 자격 “청춘합창단”의 멘토 합창단으로 소개 되어 합창에 대한 대중의 관심을 고조시켜 왔으며, 무대와 객석의 벽을 허물 어온 합창단으로 한국의 합창을 선도하여 왔다.

인천시립합창단은 2015년 8월, 제7대 예술감독으로 취임한 김종현 지휘자와 함께 깊은 소리와 음악성으로 가슴깊이 먹먹한 감동을 주는 합창의 고유한 영역을 추구하며 새로운 도전과 행보를 시작하였다.

About Incheon City Chorale

Established in 1981, the Incheon City Chorale is the pride of Incheon Metropolitan City, South Korea and one of the leading professional choirs in the world. With the support of the Incheon City government, the chorale employs 50 full-time singers who perform over 60 performances per year within and outside of Korea. The Incheon City Chorale maintains a worldwide reputation for impeccable musicality and creative performances, cultivated over the past twenty years under the leadership of Dr. Hakwon Yoon.

In August 2015, the Incheon City Chorale has entered a new era under the direction of their seventh artistic director and principal conductor, Dr. Jong Hyun Kim. Dr. Kim has over twenty years of experience in choral conducting in the United States and was most recently Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Lynchburg College (Lynchburg, Virginia).

The Incheon City Chorale has been invited to perform at the most renowned venues around the globe. Notable performances include the 2009 American Choral Directors Association National Convention (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), the 1999 World Choral Symposium (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), and the 1997 International Federation for Choral Music World Choral Festival.

Most importantly, the Chorale regularly performs at various venues within Incheon Metropolitan City for local audiences. The annual concert schedule includes five major concerts at the Incheon Metropolitan City Arts Center as well as community outreach and education efforts, which include concerts at local schools and “brown bag” concerts for office workers around Incheon.
