On January 15, 2019, the Korean government announced a few amendments to the IHAPPY child benefits program.  
Pursuant to the amendments, the program will now cover all children under 6 years of age. Moreover, please note that the program will begin coverage of children under 7 years of age starting September 2019.

- Eligibility: All children under 6 years of age (program will cover begin coverage of children under 7 years of age from September 2019)
- Payment Amount: KRW 100,000 per month per eligible child
- Payment Date: The 25th day of each month (if the 25th falls on Saturday/Sunday/public holiday, your payment will arrive 1 business prior to the 25th)
- Application Location: The Community Service Center at the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative district of your child’s residence
- Online: The BOKJIRO website (www.bokjiro.go.kr) or APP
- Application Period: Applications accepted year-round (for newborn babies, apply within 60 days of birth)
- Inquiries: The IHAPPY website (www.ihappy.or.kr), Health and Welfare Customer Center 129, Community Service Center at your Eup/Myeon/Dong of residence
 
Precautions for your application in 2019
1. If you have not yet applied for the IHAPPY child benefits program, you must apply by the end of March 2019.
2. If you were ineligible for the program in 2018 due to the fact that you fell outside of the eligible income bracket, a designated public official will make an application on your behalf. As such, you do not have to re-apply.
3. Benefits will be retroactively paid starting on April 1, when the amended Child Benefits Act takes effect.
