Reasons behind the increase in sewerage utilities
▶ The Metropolitan City of Incheon has been charging sewerage utilities well below the cost of processing sewage in order to minimize the pressure on Incheon citizens.
However due to increased budgetary demands to improve the environment with projects to strengthen water quality levels and prevent foul odors after the sewage is processed, the deficit on sewerage special account has grown larger each year. As such, Incheon has decided to increase sewerage utilities by an average of 19%.
▶ The increase will apply to utilities starting from sewerage usage in February 2016 (billed in March 2016). The increased utilities will be used in order to leave future generations with a better environment so we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.
