Celebrating the Third Volunteer Fire Brigade Day with More Than 3,200 Members

Warm greetings to the esteemed members of Incheon’s Volunteer Firefighters. 

Welcome! It is truly heartwarming to witness Volunteer Fire Brigade Day 

becoming an officially designated commemorative day for the third time. 

My heartfelt congratulations go out to all of you. 

Seeing you in your uniforms today brings us not only a sense of security but also immense pride.

Standing alongside approximately 3,000 firefighting officials, 

you ensure the safety of 3 million citizens, embodying reliability itself. 

The community of volunteer firefighters, which numbered around 2,800 last year, 

has grown this year to include 123 units, surpassing 3,200 members.

Safety: The Pillar for Becoming the Premier City of Happiness

Incheon is a key driver of growth in the Republic of Korea, 

currently standing as the only major city experiencing population growth. 

In January of this year, we surpassed a landmark of 3 million registered residents. 

Furthermore, last year, our regional gross product exceeded KRW 100 trillion, 

establishing us as the second-largest economic city in Korea.

Even as our population swells and our economic footprint broadens,

these metrics hold little value if they fail to foster a happier society. 

Hence, my commitment lies in guiding Incheon toward becoming the epitome of citizen happiness.

Safety underpins the very essence of citizen happiness; without it, happiness remains elusive. 

Personal contentment is intertwined with health, 

just as the narrative of national growth and prosperity is inseparable from robust security. 

Consequently, the emphasis placed on safety can never be deemed too substantial.

We Urge You to Continue Being a Central Force in Shaping Incheon’s Future

Embracing Pride and Self-Esteem Will Lead to Fulfillment and Achievement

You are the esteemed volunteer fire brigade families, 

the vital pillars of our community’s and citizens’ safety.
