Incheon launches smart tourism platform “Incheon Easy”with reservation and restaurant information services

The Incheon Metropolitan CityGovernment and Incheon Tourism Organization launched the new “Incheon EasySmart Tourism Platform.” The new app allows users to enjoy the Incheon OpenPort area smarter and more conveniently than ever with one centralized app.

 

In September 2020, Incheon was selected as Korea’s first “smarttourism” city. Incheon Easy is an ICT-based smart travel application developedby a consortium of nine public and private vendors, including the Ministry ofCulture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Tourism Organization, Jung-gu Office, andIncheon Tourism Organization, as part of the smart tourism city project. Theapp is currently available for free in the Google Play Store and Apple AppStore.

Personalized artificialintelligence-powered recommendations

Using the artificialintelligence-powered recommendation service available on the Incheon Easy app,you can create a personalized “travel pass” recommendation based on your travelpreferences, specific routes, desired date, and type of travel companion byanswering a simple questionnaire. Of course, you can tweak your travel passaccording to the parameters you need.

 

Once your travel pass is created,the Incheon Easy app recommends a customized travel guidebook and optimal routeinformation. You check up on nearby restaurants, cafes, tourist destinations,and accommodations on a map, and enjoy smart convenience services (e.g. audioguide, coupon and payment service, luggage storage, mobility, etc.) that areavailable for each location. Simply put, the Incheon Easy app is a one-stop,personalized travel assistant.

 

Every convenience serviceimaginable available through one centralized app

With the Incheon Easy app, youcan keep track of the weather or traffic conditions, and you can use the “smartorder” service to skip the line at a popular restaurant.

 

If you are a foreigner, you canmake reservations (requests) for various mobility options without any hassles,and you can also check your luggage in to enjoy your day without having tocarry heavy bags around. If you encounter any issues during your visit toIncheon, you can use the real-time multilingual text chat service to get theassistance you need.

Free public Wi-Fi service
 For the convenience of local citizens and tourists visiting the Open Portarea, the Incheon Metropolitan City Government installed more than 60 public Wi-Fihot spots. With these hot spots, users can enjoy AR/VR content and audio guidesavailable on the Incheon Easy app for free and without drawing data from theirown data plans.


 

Timetravel to the 19th century
 

At the Open Port area, you canenjoy a unique time travel program using smart technologies such as Augmented Reality(AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Near the Open Port area, including places likethe Daebul Hotel Museum, Incheon Open Port Modern Architecture Museum, andHanjungwon, you can go on a tour led by AR docents. These AR docents (createdto mimic locals who used to live in the Open Port area in the late-19th centuryand early-20th century) can help you learn about the history of each landmarkin the Open Port area in a much more engaging and entertaining way.

 At Jemulpo Gurakbu andJjajangmyeon Museum, you can enjoy more immersive time travel content using theIncheon Easy app and the VR devices available on-site. Meanwhile, at theFreedom Park Observatory, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the OpenPort area as it was during the 19th century.

Incheon plansto refine and integrate the stored data to help market its tourism programs andimprove local infrastructures moving forward.
