Driving restrictions for high-emission vehicles
Incheon Metropolitan City is set to police and restrict the operation of high-emission vehicles in order to help reduce the emission of micro dust and create a clean air environment.
◈ Target Vehicles
·Vehicles registered before 2005 with a total weight of 2.5 tons or greater and those that have failed to comply with the government’s orders regarding the implementation of emission-reducing measures
·Vehicles that have failed their comprehensive vehicle inspections
※ Operation of Grade-5 vehicles will be restricted when the high-concentration micro dust reduction orders are in effect (Grade-5 vehicles: vehicle that has received a separate notification of its grade status)
◈ Enforcement Date: From January 1, 2019
◈ Policing Method: CCTV monitoring and on-scene patrolling of major roads
◈ Penalties: 1st offense - warning; 2nd offense - KRW 200,000 fine (up to KRW 2,000,000)
(1st offense vehicles shall be granted a 30-day administrative guidance period to give time for the vehicle operator to install emissions-reducing measures. From the 2nd offense and onwards, a fine will be levied for each offense)
▶ Please comply with orders regarding the implementation of emission-reducing measures to avoid any restrictions on your vehicle. Also, maintain and repair your vehicle to keep our air environment clean.
※ Installation of emission reduction devices and engine rebuild as an LPG unit: 83~93% of all costs supported
