Opening speech of the 21st World Korean Business Convention

Dear overseas Koreans from around the world!

It is a great honor to meet all of you here.

My name is Yoo Jeong-bok, and I am the Mayor of Incheon City.

I am happy and honored to attend the 21st World Korean Business Convention.

I would like to express our gratitude and respect to all of you

who have continued our history and pride for 21 years, from 2002 to this year.

I would also like to thank the Overseas Koreans Agency

and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce Federation for organizing this event.

This year's World Korean Business Convention is the first to be held overseas in 21 years

since the first event for Korean businesspeople was held in 2002.

It is also a turning point as the event is being held

under a new name, "World Korean Business Convention".

More than 500 companies and 3,000 Korean businesspeople are participating in this event,

which is expected to not only demonstrate the power of the Korean business network,

but also contribute to the advancement of small and medium-sized enterprises,

start-ups and young entrepreneurs venturing into overseas markets,

and the revitalization of Korea's corporate exports.

With the establishment of the Overseas Koreans Agency in June this year,

Incheon has been able to establish a support system for overseas Koreans around the world.

We are very happy to welcome the 7.5 million overseas Koreans as our new family in Incheon.

Together with our overseas Koreans,

we will make our city, Incheon, a world-class city with happy citizens.

We wish you a successful 21st World Korean Business Convention

and wish everyone here good health and happiness.

We look forward to seeing you more often in the future,

both here in Korea and in Incheon City.

Thank you very much.
