Incheon e-Eum platform is launching a new service on the traditional grocery market

Traditional grocery market goods can be ordered on-line and delivered starting Oct. 18

Incheon is attempting to boost the local economy and encourage another success story on the small business retailers, by launching a new service that connects the Incheon e-Eum platform and the traditional grocery market.

 

Starting Oct.18, Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Tourism Organization launched the ‘Traditional market goods shopping through e-Eum’ service where the traditional goods can be ordered on-line and be delivered by using the Incheon e-Eum platform.

 

‘Traditional market goods shopping through e-Eum’ service was launched on the Incheon e-Eum platform to encourage competitiveness of the traditional markets, as the consumption pattern is rapidly changing as on-line and mobile shopping is becoming more common. Following the Incheon local currency ‘Incheon e-Eum’ and public delivery service ‘Delivery e-Eum’ which achieved more than KRW 7 trillion for the total accumulative payment, this is another service to help connect the small business owners and consumers (citizens) and boost the local economy.

 

The Incheon e-Eum users can use this service by simply clicking the ‘e-Eum shopping’ button on the Incheon e-Eum main page, without downloading a new app or signing up for membership.

 

For the ‘e-Eum shopping’, 14 markets and 202 shops are going to participate in this service, which includes Hyundai market·Songhyun market in Dong-gu, Yonghyun market·Seokbawi market in Michuhol-gu, Moraenae market· Ganseok Free market· Guwol Wholesale market in Namdong-gu, BupyeongRotary Underground market· Bupyeong Culture Street· Bupyeong Ggang market·Bupyeong Complex market in Bupyeong-gu, Gyeyang-san Traditional market· Gyesan market, and Seo-gu Gajwa market in Gyeyang-gu, etc.

 

When the food registered in the on-line mall, side dishes, vegetable, fruit and meat, up to 3,000 items are ordered on-line, without visiting the traditional markets in person, each market delivers the products to the local area (subject to the market’s circumstance). The goods will be put in the eco-friendly plastic bags exclusive for the e-Eum shopping. 

 

For the orders purchased before 5 p.m. in the afternoon they will be delivered within 2 hours, and for the goods ordered on the weekends, they will be delivered on the next business day before noon. On purchases over total KRW 10,000 the delivery fee is free of charge, and KRW 2,000 for purchases under KRW 10,000. Except for the wholesale markets, Guwol Wholesale market and Bupyeong Ggang market, the delivery fee is free on purchases over KRW 50,000 and the Bupyeong Rotary Underground market and Bupyeong Cultural Street send by logistic service free of charge for the purchases over KRW 50,000.

 

The payment can be made by Incheon e-Eum which is the Incheon local currency. And the cashback and benefit-plus, discount benefits for the franchise will be applied. The fee for the sellers is up to 4.9% at the most, which is one third of the average public platform fees(15%).

Eco-friendly plastic bags exclusively used for e-Eum shopping

 

The city is going to increase the participant markets until the end of the year, if the results of the test operation proves to be a success. Also, they are going to make pick-up service available where the customers can visit the shop and pick up the products in person.

 

e-Eum shopping is a public and government collaboration business where Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Tourism Organization, Incheon e-Eum platform operation company and 14 traditional markets join together. This is the first time in the country to use the local currency platform.

 

Incheon Metropolitan City supports free delivery, connecting the group delivery business to reduce burden on thesellers and consumers. Incheon Tourism Organization supports tourism around the markets and promotes the traditional markets to provide foundation for recovery in the tourism consumption in the future.

 

The platform operation company developed the service system and supports promotion to boost consumption. And each market focuses on the product package and to increase consumer satisfaction.

 

In particular, e-Eum shopping is a service that connects the public platform and the group delivery center business and utilize a public platform. It is very competitive in terms of price and cost-benefit. Also, it utilizes the Incheon e-Eum platform which 55% of Incheon citizens use and has an accumulative membership of 1.62 million people. This is a significant advantage as it increased accessibility and convenience for the users.
