Provides attraction and experience by operating ‘Incheon Craft’ Experience Zone
Incheon Metropolitan City is implementing XR Metaverse establishment business, for the first time for a local government, and is striving to reach its goal as a Global Smart City.
Incheon Metropolitan City is participating in the ‘1st Metaverse Korea 2021’ held at Seoul COEX for 4 days from 26th to 29th.
Incheon Metropolitan City is going to introduce ‘XR Metaverse Incheon e-Eum project’ and showcase related devices at the Exhibition.

‘XR Metaverse Incheon e-Eum project’ is a business establishing a 3D space map for 3.8 million㎡ area over Incheon International Airport, Open Port, Song-do, Bupyeong subway station, and provide metaverse convenient service such as road map, tourism, and shopping connected with 5G.It’s goal is to develop services such as XR glass for the visually impaired.
Hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City, and 10 companies are participating as consortiums such as Naver Labs and Incheon International Airport Corporation.
Besides these, Incheon Promotion exhibition hall is going to operate ‘Incheon Craft’ Experience Zone where people can have a chance to experience Incheon as a city where the past and the future co-exists, in a virtual reality space.
They are going to organize contents such as introducing extension of Digital Twin and establishment of Data Dam, and lectures from experts in Metaverse, Digital Twins fields, to provide various attraction and experience for the tourists.
Ji-Young Kim, person in charge of Smart City mentioned, “Our participation in the exhibition enables us to take a look at the latest trend in Metaverse industry and IT technology when the digital transformation is taking place. It is a great chance to recognize our city’s smart technology status”. She also said, “It is the first time for a local government to launch a XR Metaverse business. We will do our best to complete the business successfully”.
Last May, Incheon Metropolitan City was selected the winner for the ‘5G Contents Flagship Project’ contest, which is launched as part of the Digital New Deal business from the Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Radio Promotion Association. The city is implementing ‘XR Metaverse Incheon e-Eum Project’ which a total fund of KRW 13.8 billion is invested, including the government funds of KRW 8 billion.
