The tram system will circulate over a route connecting Songdo Moonlight Festival Park Station (Incheon Line No. 1), Incheon National University Station, Yonsei University, BIT Zone station, and back to Songdo Moonlight Festival Park Station, over a total length of 23.06km and 30 stops, with a rail depot that is to be constructed. The total project budget is 442.9 billion won; 265.7 billion won (60%) of this will be funded by the central government.

In December 2018, the city got a green light from the Ministry of Land and Transportation to go on with its ‘Incheon Urban Railway System Construction Plan.’ This plan included installing a tram line over the entire sectors of Phase 1 of the Songdo Internal Circulation Line and the candidate routes of the entirety of the said internal circulation line.

Then, in consideration of the passing of the feasibility study for the GTX-B line and the changes in situations, including the development progress of Songdo International City, they identified the ‘Songdo Tram’ route(3rd place in priority) which was the best in terms of profitability and business prospect during the ‘Re-evaluation Project for the Feasibility of Incheon Urban Railway Establishment Plan’ that was executed in March 2019.

The city requested the Ministry of Land to approve the revision of ‘The Incheon Urban Railway Establishment Plan’ in December 2020. The approval was given in January this year.
