Bystronic Group of Swiss, Opened a New Facility, Largest in Asia

With the global big names, including the top 3 metal processing companies of the world, moving in to town, Songdo International City of IFEZ is taking a leap forward as a global base for machine tools and processing machines industry.

IFEZ announced that the opening ceremony of the business facility of Bystronic Korea, a South Korean incorporation of Bystronic Group, was held at the Knowledge and Information Industries Complex (11-108, Sector 4)of Songdo-dong on the 9th.

IFEZ announced that the opening ceremony of the business facility of Bystronic Korea, a South Korean incorporation of Bystronic Group, was held at the Knowledge and Information Industries Complex (11-108,Sector 4) of Songdo-dong on the 9th.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy General Manager Yongwon Sung of IFEZ, CEO Alex Waser of Bystronic Group, CEO Yeongcheol Choi of Bystronic Korea, and Swiss Ambassador to Korea, H.E. Dagmar Schmidt Tartagli, etc.

100% owned by Bystronic Group of Swiss, Bystronic Korea completed its new business facility by investing 10 billion won as the total project budget after its investment contract that was signed in December 2018. The site area of the project is 3,360m2.

The facility is composed of the main office of the incorporation as well as the facilities for exhibition and training centers (Brand Experience Center.) The exhibition and training center that opened this time is the largest among all such centers of Bystronic Group across Asia. The exhibition and training center is planned as the venue for training the engineers of Asian countries on the products as well as the South Korean customers and is expected to be visited by hundreds of visitors every year.

Since 45% of the customers of Bystronic Korea are concentrated in the Gyeongin region, their cooperation in the digitalization of the SMEs in the Incheon region is also anticipated.

With Bystronic Korea settling in the city, Songdo now has two out of the top three advanced metal processing system companies in the world, following AMADA, Japan, which moved into Songdo in October 2018. The remaining top 3 companies in the industry is Trump, Germany. OKUMA, a Japanese machine tool company with 120 years of history and the largest market share in Japan, opened its ‘CNC Machine Tool Training Center’ in Songdo, as it moved into the city in March 2018.

CEO Yeongcheol Choi of Bystronic Korea said, “With this opening ceremony as the starting point to a journey to the new era of a better company, all our employees and executives will do our best to become the leader of the steel sheet market in South Korea,” as he announced the future plan for the company.
