Seven Streets Selected to Promote the Local Specialty Foods of Incheon

The Incheon announced that it would select seven streets among its Food-Specialized Streets to focus its support.

The Incheon designated seven food-specialized streets in order to invigorate these streets that are highly populated by eateries and announced that they will commence an invigoration project including the improvement of taste, hygiene, service levels and increased PR efforts.

The seven food-specialized streets selected this time are ▲(Michuhol-gu) Meokgeori-chon of Hakik Law Firm Town, ▲ (Yeonsu-gu) Seonhak-dongFood Culture Street, ▲ (Yeonsu-gu) Osongdosong Food-Specialized Street ▲(Namdong-gu) Unyeon-dong Chueo (Mudfish) Village, ▲ (Namdong-gu) Guweol Munye-gil 1st Food Culture Street ▲ (Bupyeong-gu) Gulpo Food Town, and ▲(Seo-gu) Mashil Street. In total, there are 455 eateries and restaurants currently in business.

Currently, there are 26 food-specialized streets in Incheon. Of these, the city selected seven at the beginning of this month following a meeting with the merchant association of each street that was recommended by counties and districts.

With the social distancing rules due to COVID-19 being lifted,it is expected that the dining industry would see more customers. In response,the city plans to improve these streets so that visitors would consider revisiting them while enhancing the hygiene of the area and improving the environment, so that they can become the hot place eatery streets of the area.

Also, the city will engage in promotional activities, including Internet promotion joined by blog reporter groups and broadcasting of commercials on elevator TVs, etc.

The city allocated a total budget of 57 million won for the execution of this program. With this, the city expects to enhance the image of the food-specialized streets and make these streets more desirable for returning customers, enhancing the sales of the restaurant industry and helping invigorate the local economy.
