The City Opens the 'Carbon Neutrality Support Center' to Lead the Global Response to the Climate Crisis.



▲ The Carbon Neutrality Support Centersupports the transition to a carbon-neutral society and the progress of theGreen Growth by means of establishing and executing plans on Incheon-stylecarbon neutrality and Green Growth, in accordance with the Framework Act onCarbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Coping with Climate Crisis.

Incheon opened its 'Carbon NeutralitySupport Center' which will play the pivotal roles of the leading city in carbonneutrality to overcome the global climate crisis.

The center supports the transition to acarbon-neutral society and the progress of the Green Growth by means ofestablishing and executing plans on Incheon-style carbon neutrality and GreenGrowth, in accordance with the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and GreenGrowth for Coping with Climate Crisis.

The city decided to designate the centerunder Incheon Institute as a result of the public call for proposals anddocumentary/field reviews to designate the 'Carbon Neutrality Support Center.'The center will be provided with a total budget of 200 million won, whichincludes 100 million won from the central government funding.

The scope of services of the center willbe including; ▲ supporting the planning and executing evaluation for carbonneutrality; ▲ developing and promoting carbon neutrality models; ▲ managinggreenhouse gases; ▲ supporting the establishment and execution of thecountermeasures to adapt to the climate crisis in the region; ▲ partnershipwith domestic and international partners for carbon neutrality; and ▲ expandingcarbon-neutral areas.

173 New Jobs Created, with 23 Businesses of ExcellencyNamed

Incheon named 23 small-and-medium-sizedenterprises that contributed to the creation of jobs and stabilization ofemployment during the economic difficulties due to COVID-19 as the 'ExcellentJob-Creating Businesses of 2022.'

A total of 48 candidates applied for thedesignation through a public call in April. Of these candidates, 23 companiesincluding Sungil Machinery Co., Ltd. were selected as the finalists, as aresult of documentary reviews and field evaluation, followed by a selectioncommittee meeting. These companies hired 173 new employees last year, rangingfrom three to 27 workers in each company.

The eligible candidates were local SMEsin Incheon area which have been in normal business operation for at least twoyears and increased its number of employees by at least five from the end ofDecember 2020 (or at least three new workers, if the company's number of employeesduring normal operations is less than 50) AND the increase rate of theemployees is at least 5%. The eligible industries for application were limitedto manufacturing, related service industries, and knowledge-based industries.

The Excellent Job-Creating BusinessCertification Program of the city, which has been in place since 2013, is aprogram to find and support excellent SMEs that created and maintained manyjobs. Including the 23 companies that have newly been certified, a total of 176companies have been certified so far, and the certification period is for twoyears from the date of certification.
