In particular, the sculpture has a spot in front of the “i” (of Incheon) where visitors can stand and become the “i” themselves. This could help locals feel proud to be a citizen of Incheon and have fun while supporting their city.

The APEC Summit is an annual meeting attended by more than 6,000 people, including heads of state and ministers from 21 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. With Korea set to host the 2025 APEC Summit in November 2025, which is exactly 20 years since Busan hosted the APEC Summit back in 2005, Incheon, Busan, Jeju, and Gyeongju (Gyeongsangbuk-do)have all made their bids to host the event.

Incheon is a global city, home to 15 international organizations, including the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It is the perfect place to host APEC that can fulfill the three major goals of APEC: trade and investment, innovation/digital economy, and inclusive/sustainable growth.

Earlier in September, Mayor Yoo Jeongbok visited the APEC Secretariat in Singapore and met with the Secretary-General to express his administration’s eagerness to host the 2025APEC Summit in Incheon. He also shared his desire to host the APEC Summit. He also shared his desire to host the APEC Summit with 500 Incheon citizens at an eco-friendly bicycle festival, the “2022 Songdo Slow Roll,” in October.
