This meeting aimed to actively prepare for the site inspections conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the submission of the application to host the 2025 APEC Summit on April 19. It was held in anticipation of the announcement of candidate cities on May 7, with site inspections of those cities scheduled for mid-May.
At the meeting, discussions were held on departmental and institutional cooperation measures regarding issues such as facility inspection and environmental improvement for site inspections, maintenance of major roads (facilities) and transportation facilities for the movement of inspection teams, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for the inspection teams.
Hwang Hyo-jin, Vice Mayor for Global City Affairs, emphasized, “Thanks to the active cooperation of all departments and agencies, Incheon was able to faithfully compile a vast amount of application documents that meet the evaluation criteria of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” adding, “Now is a critical moment where we need to focus all our efforts on preparing for the site inspections by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
He further added, “I am confident that if all departments and agencies of Incheon City systematically prepare to showcase effective and convincing utilization plans for the key facilities outlined in the application documents during the site inspections, the 2025 APEC Summit will undoubtedly be hosted in Incheon.”
Meanwhile, according to the public recruitment for the 2025 APEC forum host city announced on March 27 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after receiving applications on April 19, the selection process for future host cities will proceed as follows: site inspections of candidate cities and explanatory meetings on attraction plans by region will be held in mid-May, followed by the selection of host cities in June.
