Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) began accepting applications starting on Mar. 6 for its ₩1,000 Housing program, a housing support initiative under the i-Plus Home Dream project aimed at addressing low birth rates and population decline. The application process commenced at the main hall of Incheon City Hall.

The project, which has drawn strong interest from newlyweds, is a city-led housing policy that provides residential stability and childcare support at an exceptionally low rent of ₩1,000 per day (₩30,000 per month). Following the announcement of the application process, the city received over 200 daily inquiries. On Mar. 6, the first day of applications, a tremendous crowd gathered at the reception area, forming long queues and demonstrating the overwhelming level of interest.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok visited the application site, personally engaging with citizens and accepting applications first-hand. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely appreciate the enthusiastic response from our residents. So many newlyweds applied on the very first day, and this reaffirms that Incheon’s housing policy is a crucial support system for them.” He also assured applicants that the city would make every effort to minimize inconvenience given the high demand.

As of the announcement date (Feb. 10, 2025), eligible applicants must be members of a non-homeowning household and fall into one of the following categories, prioritized according to their order: newlyweds married within seven years, engaged couples, single-parent families, and married households. If competition arises within the same priority group, a scoring system will be used to determine the final selection.

Notably, income and asset requirements have been partially eased or revised this year, making it essential for applicants to carefully review the official announcement before applying. Interested couples are required to prepare the necessary documents in advance. Further details on the application process can be found on the official websites of the Incheon Metropolitan Government, Incheon Housing & City Development Corporation, and MOLIT & LH's My Home portal.

Applications will be accepted through visits at Incheon City Hall until Mar. 14. The final list of selected residents will be announced on Jun. 5, and after the housing allocation process, move-ins are expected to begin as early as late June.

Reflecting the high level of interest in ₩1,000 housing, Incheon also organized an on-site tour for newlyweds

On the morning of Mar. 6, five engaged couples, selected through pre-registration, visited a ₩1,000 housing unit in Dohwa-dong, Michuhol-gu, accompanied by Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok. During the tour, participants explored the interior of the housing units, shared their impressions of the layout and facilities, and discussed their expectations for Incheon’s housing policies with Mayor Yoo.

Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “I hope this initiative goes beyond simply providing housing support and serves as a foundation for newlyweds to build stable, happy lives while raising children. We will continue implementing effective housing policies to ensure that our citizens will lead stable and fulfilling lives.”
