Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) announced it will host the 61st Citizens' Day Commemorative Event and Citizens' Happiness Week across Incheon for 15 days from October 11 to 25.
Notably, the ‘Grand Festival for 10 Million Incheon Citizens’ will be held grandly around Songdo Moonlight Festival Park on October 11. This event is planned as a large-scale cultural festival that transcends a simple commemorative ceremony, embodying the meaning of harmony and exchange among Incheon's 3 million citizens and the 7 million overseas Koreans worldwide.
Under the theme ‘One Incheon, From Incheon to the World,’ the city has prepared diverse programs for everyone to see, hear, eat, enjoy, and experience.
The commemorative event will run from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on October 11. The venue will host various programs including the Incheon Food Festival, Citizen Culture and Arts Festival, and an Overseas Koreans Photo Exhibition. Numerous hands-on side events will also be available for citizens to participate in directly.
Key events on October 11 include the ‘2025 Incheon Food Festival,’ hosted by the Sanitation Policy Division, which will kick off with a large-scale bibimbap performance and cake-cutting ceremony, showcasing diverse food content.
The ‘Overseas Koreans Photo Exhibition’, hosted by the Overseas Koreans Cooperation Division, runs from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, highlighting the identity connecting Incheon and the world. The ‘2025 Citizens’ Culture and Arts Festival', hosted by the Arts Policy Division, runs in three parts from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, featuring performances by Epik High, Urban Zakapa, HYN (Park Hye-won), and others.
A commemorative ceremony at 6:30 PM will feature the Citizen Award presentation, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, a special ceremony, and a performance by the Incheon City Boys and Girls Choir. The festival will conclude with a drone light show, promising a special visual spectacle for attendees.
The city will operate a ‘Citizen Happiness Week’ for two weeks from October 11 to 25. During this period, 24 linked events in culture, arts, tourism, sports, and exhibitions—including a chrysanthemum exhibition, Incheon Film Week, Overseas Koreans Incheon Homecoming Day, and the Incheon Market for Agricultural Specialties—will unfold across the city.
Additionally, citizens presenting identification or a resident registration transcript can receive special discounts at participating local accommodations, recreational facilities, and public cultural venues. Detailed information is available on the Incheon City website.
Through this Citizens' Day commemoration, Incheon City aims to provide citizens with special happiness in their daily lives and strengthen Incheon's identity and sense of community.
Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “The 61st Citizens' Day and Citizens' Happiness Week are meaningful occasions for the 10 million citizens of Incheon to unite as one, fostering pride and strengthening harmony,” adding, “I hope this event elevates Incheon's global standing and becomes a true festival where citizens are the protagonists.”
