Asia-Pacific Wind Energy Summit Held in Songdo 


Incheon announced that the “2024 Asia-Pacific Wind Energy Summit” will be held at Songdo Convensia for three days, from 26th to 28th. 

The event will have the domestic and international stakeholders in the wind energy sector, with conferences and exhibitions by companies and organizations aimed at advancing the wind energy industry in the Asia-Pacific region. 

Organized by the Global Wind Energy Council, the event follows its inaugural edition held in Melbourne, Australia, last year and marks the first international wind energy event to be held in Incheon, South Korea. 





Incheon Health and Environment Research Institute Conducts Biological Survey or Urban Streams 


The Incheon Health and Environment Research Institute conducted a biological survey this year, collecting 20,137 specimens from 25 species of benthic organisms in Gongchon Stream, Gulpo Stream, Seunggi Stream, and Jangsu Stream. 

The biodiversity assessment revealed that most streams showed moderate levels of dominance and diversity. Among them, the upstream area of Gongchon Stream was found to maintain a stable ecosystem with a high level of evenness. 

In Gongchon Stream and Jangsu Stream, organisms that thrive in clean environments were observed, including planarians, snails, amphipods, small caddisflies, midges and mayflies. 






Incheon’s Yeongjongdo Sammok Port Completes “Fisheries New Deal 300 Project”


This project aimed at revitalizing Sammok Port on Yeongjongdo, Incheon, by enhancing tourism convenience and reinforcing safety facilities has been completed. 

Incheon announced the completion of the “Fisheries New Deal 300 Project” at Sammok Port in Jung-gu, Yeongjongdo, with a total budget of 12.4 billion KRW. 

An official from Incheon city government stated that they expect an increase in tourists as the project has not only improved conditions for fishing activities but also enhanced tourism convenience through the remodeling of the fish market center and the creation of exploration trails. 






Streamlined Services for Overseas Koreans at Incheon Airport 


The Overseas Koreans Agency announced that it has established a civil service office at Incheon Airport’s Terminal 2, which will officially begin operations at 9 AM on December 2nd. 

Previously, the agency set up a centralized civil service office in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, with a branch office in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, where its headquarters are located. However, to provide overseas Koreans with more convenient access to services during entry and exit, the branch office has been relocated to Incheon International Airport. 

The civil service office at Incheon International Airport will offer consultation services across all areas provided by the Gwanghwamun Central Civil Service Office, including nationality, immigration, overseas Korean visas, military service, taxation, family relations, employment, veterans’ affairs, national pension, health insurance, and driver’s licenses.

Additionally, it will handle certain overseas migration-related services, such as issuing copies of the Overseas Korean Registration Certificates, reissuing Overseas Migration Report Certificates, and processing notifications for the return of overseas Koreans.
