First Maritime Cultural Facility in Seoul, National Incheon Maritime Museum Opens
Starting today (the 11th), the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries officially opens and begins operating the National Incheon Maritime Museum.
As the first cultural facility in Seoul, the National Incheon Maritime Museum is located on Wolmido Island in Jung-gu, Incheon. The four-story building spans a total floor area of approximately 17,000 square meters.
The museum houses various facilities, including a children’s museum, a maritime culture exhibition hall, a special exhibition hall, storage facilities, and a café.
Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung stated that he hopes the National Incheon Maritime Museum to play a crucial role in elevating Incheon into a global maritime city.
Incheon Aims for UNESCO Global Geopark: “Baengnyeong-Daechung Geopark Guide Training” Begins
Incheon launches “2024 Second Half Geopark Guide Training” to promote Baengnyeong-Daechung Geopark.
In line with its efforts to secure UNESCO Global Geopark designation for the Baengnyeong-Daechung Geopark, Incheon has initiated the “2024 Second Half Geopark Guide Training” program.
According to the city, the Baengnyeong-Daechung Geopark took its first step toward becoming a globally recognized geological landmark by submitting an application for UNESCO Global Geopark designation on November 29th.
This training marks the first in-house geopark guide education program since the application for UNESCO Global Geopark designation. It aims to cultivate new guides and enhance the skills of existing ones.
The program covers various topics, including the geopark system, geological heritage of Baengnyeong-Daechung, history, culture, ecology, and interpretation techniques, with the goal of strengthening the expertise of the guides.
Gyeyang-gu in Incheon Unveils “Gyeong Araon Tree Village” for the Holiday Season
Incheon Gyeyang-gu has created a “Tree Village” at Gyeong Araon.
The “Gyeong Araon Tree Village” features a large Christmas tree standing 11 meters tall, surrounded by a vibrant array of colorful trees and various photo zones. The sparkling lights, which complement the “Street of Lights,” create a warm and festive atmosphere for the holiday season.
It plans to operate the “Gyeong Araon Tree Village” until January 31st, 2025, aiming to showcase the beauty of Gyeong Araon, with its attractive waterfront landscape that blends harmoniously with Gyeongsan Mountain, to a wider audience.
Incheon Office of Education Holds Opening Ceremony for Regional “Baro Learning Centers”
The Incheon Office of Education held the opening ceremony for the integrated regional “Bro Learning Centers” at the Northern Baro Learning Center.
The Baro Learning Centers are spaces where students can learn and practice good character and etiquette. They were established in four regions -Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western – by utilizing vacant classrooms in elementary schools.
The Baro Learning Centers will lead character education in Incheon by offering experiential programs that visit schools, character education programs that come to schools, teacher training for capacity building, and family-oriented programs where families can participate together.
