Incheon to Strengthen Childcare Policies in Response to Low Birth Rates
In an effort to tackle the declining birth rate, Incheon is set to enhance its childcare policies.The city plans to implement a set of experience-based measures aimed at addressing childcare gaps, with four main policy areas and 31 detailed initiatives.
A city official stated that Incheon will build a seamless safety net so that children in need of care can always be protected, helping parents better balance work and family life.
All Cultural Heritage Sites on Ganghwa Island Designated as Non-Smoking Areas
Ganghwa Island, often called an open-air museum, will designate all of its cultural heritage sites as non-smoking areas.According to Incheon Ganghwa-do, both nationally and city-designated cultural properties will now fall under smoke-free regulations.While major temples and historical sites such as Jeondeungsa Temple and Gwangseongbo Fortress were previously designated as non-smoking zones in 2012, the new plan expands the coverage to all cultural heritage.In total of 5 National cultural heritage includes the Jangjeong-ri Five-story Stone Pagoda and Seonwonsa Temple Site,And 31 city cultural heritage has been newly added including Ganghwa Seoksumun Gate, Hooaedondae Fortress, Gyodong Eupseong Fortress.
Incheon’s Dong-gu Expands Native English Class Program from Daycare Centers to Kindergartens
Incheon Dong-gu District announced that it will expand its "Native English Class Delivery Service," first launched last year as a regional pilot program, from daycare centers to kindergartens.
The program brings native English instructors directly to daycare centers, where they offer English-based play and learning activities for children aged four to five.
With the expanded program, a total of 11 daycare centers and 8 kindergartens will now receive 30-minute native English sessions once a week until the end of this year.
Incheon Office of Education Launches Mentoring Program for Students Under Probation
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has announced the launch of a mentoring program for students under probation, running from April through December.
This program is designed to help students under probation grow in a healthy and stable environment while preventing potential crises such as school violence. It is considered one of the Incheon Office of Education’s key student support initiatives.
The mentoring program pairs each teacher with a student under probation for one-on-one guidance. Mentors will meet with their assigned students at least once a month to provide counseling and support in areas such as attendance management, school adjustment, peer relationships, and emotional well-being.
