Former Overseas Chinese Shop in Open Port Area to Be Transformed into Civic Cultural Hub
Incheon Metropolitan City has signed the second official agreement with the Incheon Housing and City Development Corporation (iH) to revitalize a historic building in the Open Port area into a public cultural space for citizen engagement.
Under the agreement, the city will lease the second designated modern architectural heritage site from iH free of charge and operate it as a citizen-centered content hub. The building was remodeled as part of iH's ‘Modern Architectural Heritage Regeneration Project.’
The regeneration project aims to shed new light on Incheon's historical, architectural, and cultural value by acquiring and remodeling modern-era buildings and transforming them into cultural spaces open to the public. It serves as a leading example of public cultural regeneration in the city.
Incheon City Completes Recruitment for ‘I() Plus Connecting’ Dating Program
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association have successfully completed the recruitment process for the first and second rounds of the ‘I() Plus Connecting’ program, which supports healthy relationships among single men and women.
A total of 2,144 unmarried individuals from the Incheon area applied, resulting in a highly competitive acceptance rate of over 10 to 1.
The first session of the ‘I() Plus Connecting’ event will take place on June 22 at the Mountain Hall of the Inspire Resort in Yeongjong, followed by the second session on July 12 at the Premier Ballroom of Songdo Convensia.
Incheon Traditional Market Goods and Local Food Gather in One Place
Incheon Metropolitan City will host the 14th Incheon Local Products Exhibition 2025 from June 13 to 15 at the North Plaza of Dongincheon Station.

Michuhol Public Library to Host Original Illustration Exhibition, ‘Ethical Aesthetics: Three Rooms’
The Incheon Metropolitan City Michuhol Library will hold an original illustration exhibition titled ‘Ethical Aesthetics: Three Rooms’ by renowned Korean picture book author Kwon Yoon-duck. The exhibition will run from June 14 to August 28 at the library’s first-floor gallery.
This exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to view original artwork from some of Kwon’s most notable picture books. It is expected to resonate deeply not only with children but also with adults, artists, and those in the picture book industry, offering both inspiration and reflection.
Incheon City to Complete First River Restoration Project This Year
Incheon City is set to complete its first river restoration project, the Gulpocheon Ecological River in Bupyeong-gu, by the end of this year.
Launched in 2021, the project involves the removal of existing concrete coverings along a section of the tributary stream and the creation of an ecological river within the urban area.
Once completed in the second half of the year, the restored stream will provide a new waterfront space for citizens to enjoy.
Incheon City Hosts Musical Tour to Promote Safety Education for Children
Incheon City is using music and dance to raise safety awareness among children through a touring musical performance.
From June 12 to 24, the city will present the ‘Children’s Safety Education Musical’ at three local elementary schools and Cheongna Blue Nova Hall, targeting first and second graders.
Incheon City aims to use the performances not only to improve children's disaster response skills but also to promote environmental awareness and action.
