Incheon Urban History Museum hosts special art exhibition to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation
Incheon Metropolitan City’s Urban History Museum announced that it will hold a special exhibition titled ‘Smile Again in Our Liberated Homeland’ starting June 17 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation.
This exhibition is part of the museum’s “Artists’ View of the City” series, where visual artists interpret the city’s identity through art. In celebration of this historic milestone, the show will feature works by LEODAV, a graffiti artist originally from Incheon, who captures the spirit of Liberation in a fresh, modern way.
The exhibition runs through August 24, is closed on Mondays, and offers free admission.
Incheon is recognized for excellence in promoting solar power in industrial complexes
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it was selected as an “Outstanding Institution for Promoting Solar Energy in Industrial Complexes” at the 1st Industrial Complex Renewable Energy Academy, held on June 13. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, and the city received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Launched for the first time this year, the academy aims to expand the use of renewable energy in support of carbon neutrality in industrial complexes and to build the capacity of relevant personnel.
Incheon plans to continue expanding solar energy projects across the Bupyeong and Juan national industrial complexes, as well as in general and new industrial zones.
Incheon launches preliminary project for the Incheon Municipal Art Museum
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it held a project kickoff meeting on June 13 at City Hall to begin operations for the Preliminary Program for the Incheon Municipal Art Museum.
This initiative serves as a foundation for public engagement as the city prepares for the museum’s grand opening in 2028. It aims to define the museum’s identity and direction through discussions with citizens, the local art community, and experts.
This year’s program will feature a total of three events. In July, participants will explore characteristics of Incheon’s art ecosystem and share examples of locally curated exhibitions, with regional curators and artists presenting real-world cases and future strategies.
Incheon offers prehistoric-themed educational kit for children to enjoy at home
The Incheon Metropolitan City Geomdan Prehistory Museum announced that it will run an online education program for elementary school students, titled Smart Museum Kit, from July 7 to 18.
Timed with the summer vacation, the program offers a range of fun, home-based activities. These include a virtual exhibition tour, a short animation about the Stone Age, and hands-on assembly kits for making a comb-pattern pottery model and a keychain made from blocks shaped like a Paljureong bronze-age ritual bell.
The activity kits and materials will be delivered free of charge to applicants, offering an enjoyable and educational way for children to learn about prehistoric life through creative play.
Incheon begins study to improve youth job policies
Incheon Metropolitan City has launched a research project aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of its youth employment policies, with the goal of building a sustainable job ecosystem for young people.
The research will establish strategic directions and implementation plans for the city’s youth employment initiatives over the next five years from 2026 to 2030. It also aims to identify the limitations of existing policies and propose practical alternatives that can drive real change in youth employment.It will run through December and include policy forums to share progress, develop an action roadmap, and establish collaboration plans across institutions.
