Incheon Completes Flood Control Monitoring System Project


Incheon has completed the third phase of its “Flood-Prone Area Monitoring System Project” aimed at proactively responding to heavy rainfall and urban flooding.The project, which began on March 27 and concluded on June 25, lasted about three months. A total of 60 IoT-based flood detection sensors were installed at 15 locations vulnerable to flooding, as part of efforts to enhance disaster response capabilities.





Six Americans Arrested for Attempting to Send Bottles to North Korea from Ganghwa-do


Six American nationals were arrested in Ganghwa-do, Incheon, after attempting to float around 1,300 plastic bottles toward North Korea in a restricted zone.According to the Ganghwa Police, the suspects, all aged between their 20s and 50s, are under investigation for violating the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety.






Songdo Severance Hospital Unlikely to Open by End of Next Year


Construction delays at Songdo Severance Hospital, a long-awaited facility for residents of Songdo International City, have made it unlikely to open by the end of next year.According to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Yonsei University Health System completed the civil engineering phase two years and six months after breaking ground in December 2022 and has only recently begun building construction.






Incheon Reports $493.7 Million in Foreign Direct Investment in First Half of 2025


The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has reported $493.7 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) filings for the first half of 2025.This figure represents 82.3% of the annual goal of $600 million. By quarter, the reported amounts were $309.61 million in Q1 and $184.09 million in Q2.






Incheon Releases 400,000 Juvenile Korean Rockfish into Soya-do and Muui-do Waters


The Incheon Fisheries Resources Research Institute has released 400,000 juvenile Korean rockfish into the coastal waters of Soya-do and Muui-do. The institute announced that 250,000 were released in the waters off Soya-do in Ongjin-gun, and 150,000 off Muui-do in Jung-gu between June 24th and 25th. These rockfish, hatched in April and raised for three months, have grown to over 6 centimeters in length and have passed disease screening. The release expects to help boost local fishermen's income.






One in Three Food Poisoning Cases Occurs During Summer


The Incheon Public Health and Environment Research Institute has issued a public reminder to practice hygiene as food poisoning risks increase during summer. According to data from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, 332 cases of food poisoning occurred in the summer over the past three years, accounting for 35.2% of the total cases. The majority of these incidents were caused by bacterial pathogens such as Salmonella and pathogenic E. coli.






31 Malaria Cases Reported in Incheon; Authorities Warn of Surge Around Monsoon Season


With the peak summer season approaching, malaria cases are rising in Incheon. According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, a total of 31 malaria cases have been reported in Incheon since January 1st. The agency urges high-risk areas to follow mosquito prevention guidelines and strengthen local mosquito control efforts.





Incheon to Establish Logistics Robot Testbed at Robot Land by Year-End


Incheon has been selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s 2025 Robot Flagship Regional Hub Project and will receive 950 million won in national funding. 

With this, the city plans to invest 1.9 billion won to build a logistics robot demonstration infrastructure at Incheon Robot Land by the end of this year.
