Plans Underway for Dual Home Port Cruise Route Between Incheon and Keelung


The Incheon Port Authority has discussed launching a dual home port cruise service between Incheon and Keelung, Taiwan, in talks with the Taiwan International Cruise Association.At the Jeju International Cruise Forum, the Incheon Port Authority emphasized Incheon’s strengths as a cruise home port and formally proposed opening the Incheon–Keelung route.The authority also highlighted Incheon’s unique advantage as a fly & cruise hub, noting its close proximity to Incheon International Airport—just a 30-minute drive from the port.





Jungbu Regional Office of Employment and Labor Launches Probe into Four Workplaces Related to Manhole Accident in Incheon 


The Jungbu Regional Office of Employment and Labor will dispatch 25 inspectors to investigate four sites linked to a recent manhole accident in Incheon that claimed two lives.

The inspections will cover the Incheon Environmental Corporation, which commissioned the project, along with subcontractors and other related companies. 

The probe will focus on whether safety protocols were properly followed when working in confined spaces, as part of a broader review under the Industrial Safety and Health Act.






Inha University Hospital Study: Male Suicide Rates Rise During Rapid Economic Growth


A new study suggests that suicide rates are influenced not just by economic growth itself, but by how fast and how long that growth lasts.

The research was led by Professor Lee Dong-Wook from the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Inha University Hospital and published in the July 2025 issue of the journal PLOS ONE.

Analyzing data from 198 countries over a 30-year period, from 1991 to 2021, the study found that suicide rates tend to rise when economic growth is not sustained—particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

In high-income nations, male suicide rates were more likely to increase during short periods of rapid economic expansion.






Incheon City Implement Four-Day Work Week for Pregnant and Child-Rearing Public Officials


Starting this month, Incheon City is introducing a four-day work week for public employees who are pregnant or raising young children.

The program, called the Family-Friendly Ai:Hyu Work System, is designed to help city officials better balance work and family life by easing the pressures of childbirth and childcare.

Incheon will begin piloting the system in July and plans to monitor the results closely to make further improvements.





Incheon Students Open New Horizons for Creative Convergence Education in Laos


On July 9th, the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education shared the results of students’ international exchange activities held during the 2025 Global Creative Convergence Education Camp.

The event took place in Vientiane, Laos, as part of the Incheon Global Learning School program, with 45 students and 15 teachers taking part.

Participants had the chance to strengthen their cooperation and problem-solving skills in a global setting which are expected to serve them well for the future.






Yeonsu-gu Launches Comprehensive Plan to Tackle Extreme Heat


Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu has launched a comprehensive plan to tackle extreme heat and prevent heat-related illnesses among residents. 

The plan includes a wide range of practical measures — from expanding heat mitigation facilities and operating heat-relief shelters, to protecting outdoor workers at construction sites.

An official from Yeonsu-gu stated, “We recognize heat waves as a natural disaster, and we will do everything possible to keep residents safe and healthy throughout the summer.”
