Incheon Extends On-Demand Bus Service in Geomdan New Town Until June Next Year
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will extend the operation of its real-time, on-demand bus service, the I-MOD Bus, in Geomdan New Town until June next year to improve transportation convenience for local residents.
The service allows passengers to use a mobile app to call a bus to a nearby stop and travel to their desired destination, offering a new form of smart mobility.
The city had planned to operate the service only until the end of this year following the opening of the extended Incheon Subway Line 1 in June, but decided to extend operations through the first half of next year in consideration of new and adjusted city bus routes and expanded express bus services scheduled for the second half of the year.
Safety Barriers to Be Installed on Incheon Bridge in the Second Half of Next Year
Safety barriers designed to prevent falls will be installed on Incheon Bridge, where suicide incidents have occurred repeatedly.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that the installation was confirmed as part of a revised toll agreement recently signed with the bridge operator.
Design work will begin early next year, with construction scheduled to be completed in the second half of the year.
Artificial Beach and Infinity Pool to Be Built in Songdo, Incheon
An artificial beach featuring a sandy shoreline and an infinity pool using purified seawater will be built along the waterfront park in Songdo International City.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced that construction has begun on the waterfront park project in the Songdo 6th District.
The project covers an area of about 185,000 square meters and involves an investment of 54.1 billion won, with the artificial beach scheduled for completion by April 2028.
Incheon Municipal Arts Groups Accept Applications for First-Half 2026 Performances
The Incheon Arts and Culture Center announced that it is accepting applications for performances under the “Incheon Municipal Arts Groups Visiting Performances” program for the first half of 2026, from March to June.
The program is a major cultural outreach initiative in which municipal arts groups visit local institutions and organizations to present live performances.
Eligible applicants include institutions and organizations located in Incheon, with priority given to island areas, social welfare facilities, hospitals, military units, frontline public service agencies such as police and fire departments, and schools.
Incheon Coastal Ferry Passengers Top One Million for the First Time
The number of passengers using coastal ferries linking Incheon Port and islands in the West Sea has reached an all-time high this year.
The Incheon Port Authority said that as of December 29, a preliminary count showed about 1.08 million passengers, marking the highest figure in 12 years.
The increase is attributed to the Incheon i-Sea Pass policy, which lowered fares on 14 coastal ferry routes and expanded fare discounts for non-Incheon residents, boosting island tourism.
Safety Barriers Installed on Third Incheon Bridge to Prevent Tragic Incidents
As fatal jumping incidents continue on the Incheon Bridge, suicide prevention facilities have been installed on the Third Incheon Bridge, which connects Yeongjong Island with the mainland.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced that safety barriers have been installed ahead of the bridge’s opening next month.
The barriers stretch about 1.7 kilometers, with a height of 2.5 meters, along the cable-stayed section of the bridge.
Incheon Pushes Ahead with Phase Three of Overseas Koreans Town Development
Incheon is moving forward with the third phase of a residential development project for overseas Koreans.
Incheon Global City said the project in Songdo International City has passed architectural review by the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority.
The development will include about 1,700 apartment units across 14 buildings, rising up to 44 stories above ground.
