Incheon’s Mansucheon Restoration Project Moves Forward


Efforts to restore the concrete-covered Mansucheon stream in Incheon into a waterfront space are officially underway. Namdong-gu announced it has commissioned basic and detailed design work for partial restoration of the stream, with a budget of 1.54 billion won. Once the detailed design is completed, the project will undergo a second central investment review, as required by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, with construction targeted to begin as early as next year.






Parking Expanded at Yeongjong Cultural Complex


Incheon’s Jung-gu has completed expansion work at the parking lot of the Yeongjong Cultural Complex to ease parking congestion. Between August and December last year, the district added 72 new spaces, increasing parking capacity from 113 to 185 spaces. The expansion was carried out in response to growing demand, as the complex serves more than 2,000 visitors on average each day.






Ganghwa-gun Moves to Expand Youth Age Limit to 49


Incheon’s Ganghwa-gun Council is pushing to revise local ordinances to expand the age range defining “youth” into the 40s. Under the proposed revision, the age range defining “youth” will be expanded from the current 19–39 to 18–49. The council says the move aims to broaden access to youth policies, respond more flexibly to population decline, and strengthen the foundation for regional revitalization.






Ganghwa-gun Plans Subsidy for Sea Transport Costs of Construction Materials


Ganghwa-gun is pursuing a plan to support sea transport costs for construction materials to ease the financial burden on island residents. For housing construction on islands without bridge connections, the county plans to subsidize up to 50 percent of maritime transport costs, up to a maximum of 10 million won. The county aims to enact a related ordinance on ferry fare and transport support for residents within the first half of this year.






Jung-gu to Survey Preferences for Yeongjong-gu Symbols


Incheon’s Jung-gu will conduct a public preference survey to select official symbols for Yeongjong-gu, a new administrative district set to launch in July. Since September last year, Jung-gu has been working on developing symbols that reflect Yeongjong-gu’s unique identity, representativeness, and future vision. A selection committee will convene to finalize official symbols based on the survey results.






Jung-gu Hiring Temporary Workers for Unauthorized Ad Cleanup


Incheon’s Jung-gu is recruiting two temporary workers to assist with the removal of unauthorized outdoor advertisements. Applications will be accepted from January 2 through January 15. Applicants must be registered residents of Incheon and meet eligibility requirements outlined in the recruitment notice. Duties include collecting and assisting with enforcement efforts of unauthorized ads, and supporting safety inspections for disaster preparedness.





Incheon Bada School Expands Education Programs


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education is expanding programs and strengthening teacher training for Bada School, now in its fourth year. From April through the end of the year, the office plans to operate programs for 2,800 participants, including 800 students in the “Bada School to the Islands” and 2,000 in the “Muui Bada School” programs. The school will also introduce an “Island BioBlitz” program this year, where students and marine experts survey species distribution on islands and create exploration maps.





Residents Rally After Apartment Security Guard Collapses on Duty


Residents at an apartment complex in Incheon have come together to raise donations after a security guard collapsed while on duty. According to the apartment management office in Yeonsu District, the man in his 70s, who had worked at the complex for three years, collapsed from acute myocardial infarction after finishing leaf cleanup work on December 1, at around 5 p.m. He was rushed to the hospital by emergency responders and successfully underwent surgery. After learning of the incident, residents set up a donation box at the apartment entrance and raised 3.3 million won, which was recently delivered to the man’s family.
