Dedicated Teachers for Basic Academic Skills to be Introduced


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has designated this year as the “Year of Responsible Education for Guaranteed Basic Learning” and announced the full implementation of a dedicated teacher system for basic academic skills. These teachers will work alongside homeroom teachers to conduct in-depth assessments of elementary students’ academic levels and provide customized instruction during regular class hours. The office says this approach connects individual support with classroom teaching to establish a comprehensive system of responsibility for basic learning. During school vacations, intensive face-to-face learning camps lasting two to three weeks will be offered, tailored to different school environments such as general schools, old downtown areas, and rural or fishing communities.






Incheon Education Support Team Publishes Work Guide for New Teachers


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education’s School Support Team has published a work guide titled “School Life 119: Supporting Teachers from Day One,” aimed at easing the workload of early-career teachers and helping them settle into school life. The guide was designed to reduce repeated inquiries and confusion in school settings and covers 119 questions across 13 categories, including use of the National Education Information System, classroom management, and teaching and learning support. Printed copies will be distributed to schools and used in training programs for new teachers in 2026, as well as certification courses for first-grade teachers.





Gyeyang-gu to Recruit New Members for District Arts Troupe 


Incheon’s Gyeyang-gu has announced an open recruitment for new members of the Gyeyang-gu Cultural Arts Troupe for the first half of 2026. The district arts troupe has served as a cultural ambassador for the community, delivering high-quality performances at local events and cultural festivals. Through this recruitment, the district aims to strengthen the troupe’s capabilities and expand cultural participation across generations. Openings are available in three groups: the Korean traditional percussion ensemble, the women’s choir, and the children’s choir.





BFMC Introduces AI-Based Audit Consultation Chatbot


The Bupyeong-gu Facilities Management Corporation has introduced an AI-based chatbot system to improve the efficiency and accuracy of routine audit consultations. The system is part of a broader effort to innovate work processes using generative AI technology. Through the chatbot’s operation, the corporation aims to improve staff understanding of routine audit procedures and promote a culture of voluntary pre-inspection, thereby simultaneously strengthening the internal control system and work expertise.




Incheon’s Multi-Unit Building Support Team Take Lead in Resolving Disputes


Incheon Metropolitan City’s multi-unit building management support team has been taking the lead in providing consultation and support for related complaints. The city announced that the team has processed a total of 140 complaints since opening in July 2023. Due to their structural characteristics, multi-unit buildings often see conflicts over parking use, disclosure of management fees, appointment of managers, and defect repairs, driving continued demand for professional legal and administrative support. The city says the team’s work has gone beyond simple consultations, leading to actual dispute resolutions and high levels of satisfaction among residents.




Incheon & iH Join Forces to Revitalize Open Port Area 


Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Housing & City Development Corporation, known as iH, are joining forces to revitalize the Incheon Open Port area. The area holds historic significance as Western culture entered through the port as it opened in 1883. The two sides have signed a business agreement on the utilization of modern architectural heritage in the area. Under the agreement, “I-eum 1977” and “I-eum 1978,” both modern architectural assets developed through cultural regeneration, will be jointly operated as cultural content hubs.
