Road connecting Bupyeong-dong and Janggogae fully opens after 28 years
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced the full opening of the Bupyeong-dong to Janggogae road. A road opening ceremony was held on March 31, and traffic began at 7 a.m. the following day. The 660-meter, six-lane road section between Sangoknam Middle School and Juan Presbyterian Church was built with a total investment of 81.6 billion won, including compensation costs. Construction began in April 2024 following the return of the Camp Market D site, completing a long-disconnected east-west corridor in Bupyeong after 28 years. With the opening of the new road, travel time from Sangok-dong to Bupyeong Market Station is expected to decrease from 15 minutes to five minutes.
Incheon activates 24-hour emergency response system due to rising wildfire risks
As the national wildfire crisis alert level has been raised to “caution,” Incheon Metropolitan City has activated its disaster safety countermeasure headquarters, significantly strengthening its forest fire prevention and response system. The measure is a preemptive response amid rising wildfire risks due to higher temperatures, seasonal farming activities involving open burning, and increased outdoor activity in spring. In line with the “caution” alert level, the city will maintain a 24-hour emergency response system in coordination with relevant agencies. Also, more than one-sixth of city staff will be deployed for emergency duty, with departments assigned specific zones for at least twice-weekly patrols and crackdowns on illegal burning.
Incheon to use drones to eliminate blind spots in cemetery surveys
The Incheon Metropolitan City Construction Headquarters will fully proceed with grave surveys and compensation procedures utilizing drones. The measure comes as part of the ongoing “Incheon Family Park Construction Project” (Phase 3-2). The project aims to modernize aging cemetery facilities and create modern memorial halls and eco-friendly burial sites. By using drones to capture high-resolution images of hard-to-access areas such as steep slopes and densely wooded regions, the city expects to more accurately identify grave locations and minimize survey blind spots. This approach is expected to overcome limitations of traditional labor-intensive surveys and enhance the quality of the investigation.
Rent reductions on public properties extended for small businesses through year-end
Incheon Metropolitan City will extend rent reduction benefits for public properties used by small businesses and SMEs through the end of the year. The measure aims to support businesses struggling amid an economic slowdown, extending a program that was originally set to expire at the end of 2025. Eligible business owners can apply by submitting a small business verification certificate to the relevant property management department.
Incheon to provide welfare points to young SME employees
Incheon Metropolitan City will recruit participants for its welfare point support program targeting young employees at small and medium-sized enterprises from April 1 to 10. The initiative aims to reduce disparities in employee benefits and prevent early resignations of youth working at smaller firms. Since its launch in 2018, the program has supported around 10,200 young workers and maintained satisfaction rates above 90%. Selected participants will receive up to 1.2 million won per year in welfare points, distributed as 300,000 won per quarter.
Incheon to support better meals for youth in root industries
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting companies to take part in its “Root Industry Youth Lunch Improvement” program. Root industries refer to 14 sectors involving core manufacturing processes such as casting, molding, welding, surface treatment, precision processing, and industrial software. Through the program, the city will provide meal improvement subsidies and operate a food truck that delivers snacks directly to workplaces.
